    TRADITIONAL ⚡️⚡️⚡️THUNDERBOLT⚡️⚡️⚡️

When you ride easy, and brake easy, the shifter cable will work as you know. My info is from Sheldon Brown: Slight extension of the housing is not a problem with brakes. Sometimes the rear brake may drag slightly when the handlebars are turned all the way to one side, but you can't turn the...

    TRADITIONAL ⚡️⚡️⚡️THUNDERBOLT⚡️⚡️⚡️

If you use the shifter for a brake, swap the core for a brake cable core. The two cables are made different. Brake cables use a spiral wrap cable, very strong, but stretch a little when pulled. The shift cables are straight, light twist core. Not very strong, they don't stretch as the gear...

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

Moving this thread up, I want everyone to know I'm still in this. From the found Stik Shift box, pictures and history..... 1966 and 1967 1968 Early 1969 Mid 1969 Late 1969 1970-1973 The 1966 Schwinn 3sp Stingray was the first model to have the patented 3sp stick. This Stik Shift...

    TRADITIONAL Jumpy

You are correct, the early Sturmey coaster brake hubs, TWC had brake failure if the shift cable was miss adjusted. Replaced by a S3C model, braking independent of the gear change, it also had failures. Replaced by the Sturmey AWC coaster hub, these 3 speeds are still current, and work very...

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

Everyone is very busy on their builds, I enjoy reading them! I, also have been busy searching through the basement for parts to complete my build. Found: Bottom bracket cups, bearings, nuts, etc. Head tube, all parts too. Stem Crank Pedals Seat post clamps (couple to chose from) Many brake...

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

I do have one of those twin stick Sturmey shifters, but I will not be using that. I did make the modified shifter years ago, then I used the three speed side, on this Schwinn Street Series XL. So I will be making another twin Schwinn Stik shifter for this build. I will document it completely.

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

Well I am old, in cancer remission, but still kicking. Hopefully I can complete this build if I can find all the parts I squirreled away over the years. This frame started life in 1965 as a Typhoon, will now sport a more fitting name. I repainted this frame 20 years ago. Originally black with...

    Show Your Muscle Bikes

One of my muscle bikes, 1976 Swingbike. Got it as a basket case, just the frame pieces and the latch. Added a few custom parts including the longer seat post so I could ride it comfortably.

Anyone live near Alamo, California, 94507

There is an EBAY seller that has a frame I would like to buy, but they will not ship it. The frame has been listed for weeks and I guess no one nearby wants it. I sent the seller a message about shipping, no reply. I will gladly pay the shipping and your time.

bicicleta para el cinco de mayo

Rick, don't you want to keep the seat at least until your ride on Cinco de Mayo? It's part of the bike's heritage. Treat it with some mink oil. That will soften the leather and keep it from cracking.

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Nice score for your dream bike! Walmart sold these adult Street Series Stingrays. They were poorly boxed, shipped packaged upside down, 6 on a pallet. Many were slightly damaged so Walmart cut the price at our local store to blow them out. Walmart also had the first available chrome and red...
