Yeah I'm in the Central time zone and it's only 11:45 pm August 31st
You guys ALL jumped the gun.

All good brothers, just an observation. It usually makes no difference how long a build off is I'm tweaking things till the last minute anyway. As of right now, I don't even know what I want to build...

Only 5 for the MB? Are we losing some luster?
Normally I'd enter the MBBO, but most of my muscle bikes need parts, a plan, or both. On top of that, I already have a substantial backlog of projects I've started but haven't finished, and I need to try and knock out as many as I can now that the weather has finally started cooling down in Tulsa. I still plan to enter the next MBBO, though!

I'm entering the STBO with my Aunt Suzanne's Western Flyer, as it's been disassembled for over 4 years waiting to be rebuilt, so I can use the Build Off as a good motivator to get it done.

I also plan to enter my prewar step-thru Monark, but it's not my primary project. I'll work on it in-between my main STBO entry and all my other bike projects I've got going on.

Does this qualify for the STBO?

Maybe? Here's the step thru section of the current build off:

STBO - STEP THRU BUILD OFF
  • Frame must be a "traditional" step thru (commonly referred to as a ladies frame) in the end configuration (no gender benders to high bar/male)
    • Uppermost "top" tube must not be more than 50% of the way up the seat tube
    • Final say in eligibility will be handled by staff

  • Anything else goes
    • From the factory or scratch built

Went for a ride today, a 3 hour ride. Once home I was sitting on the bench and saw this bike go by, ridden by a black teen with another on a bmx bike. What? I jumped up to check and my bike was gone from beside the garage. I grabbed my phone and hopped on todays ride (cannondale) and the chase was on. Well not for long. About 6 houses up the street I saw it was dumped in a neighbors drive. I called the police. Well we're too busy responding to emergency calls now that school is out. I waited about 10 minutes. The police called back wondering where I was, they got the street wrong. About then one of the teens came out of the house and hopped on his bmx bike. He asked what I was doing there. Well, waiting for the police so I could get my bike back. I wasn't about to go on private property to grab the bike (and risk a fight). He retrieved the bike and gave it to me. I called the police and told them to cancel. There were several other teens there and I don't know which took the bike.

The house is a rental with some low life tenant. No point in getting in an argument. Just need to keep the bikes locked when school lets out. Time to get a more reliable security cam for the driveway.

Not sure I am going to enter this BO. I believe I have participated in every one since I found this site a few years ago. Life is just busy right now. I am still working on bikes, but the projects seem to find me. And I prioritize bikes that are going to a good home over creative projects. For now anyways.

I prefer this site over any social media site out there. I have a couple projects that may be of interest that I will start to document. A 1987 Mongoose Decade and the 1947 Triumph. The Triumph I started to document, but the project stalled. Planning to jump back into that one.
