Love the shaft drive. Several shaft drive bikes hang from the ceiling of the old General Store in St. Augustine, Fl. A couple show up in these pictures.

I managed to do some soldering / brazing:
Cleaning the tubes!
First I had to braze the seatpost because the off centre BB is in the way.
Flux.
Seatpost brazed!
Droplet in the rear, I gotta watch out for that next times.
Mitered the downtube and cleaned it. Flux on it and lets go!
Headtube. Not perfect, but I'm happy how it turned out!
Let it cool down in the shed.
Top tube(s) next and planning on bending the chainstay.
Seattube is 28mm diameter.
Downtube is 35mm diameter.

I wish I had known about this. Drove right past it a few months ago while vacationing in St. Augustine.

I worked on cleaning the fillets and coloration on the frame.
After about 20 minutes my dremel tool stopped working so I continued with an hand file and sandpaper.
I wanted to take this frame + the shaft to a swapmeet.
I am aware this is entry level brazing, but everyone started somewhere.
These sanding cones are great, but get destroyed easily. Protective eyewear is a must!
Still some brass to be removed, but I don't mind this 'rough' look right now. What do you think?

Today I matched the shaft and customized coasterbrake. I'm really excited! My first completely from scratch built brazed frame.
Offcourse, chainstays, toptube is missing, but you'll probably get the idea.
just an observation, not a criticism... Is the Q factor of shaft bikes wider than chain drivetrains? The BB looks wide.
No problem, even criticism can be learning material
The BB is pretty wide compared to 'standard' JIS square tapered shafts.
The complete shaft, including the square tapers is 151,5mm.
Interesting thing I was thinking about earlier regarding the Q factor:
Crankarms are most of the time positioned more outwards. I get that, since it gives clearance for ankles. (Old cotterpin cranks would be straight).
But I have never seen crank arms with that 'width' specifically specified. It might be important now that many mountainbikes have a short chainstay and wide tires (so very little space for the chainstay tube!).
It is very interesting to see how custom builders tackle this challenge.
Currently I am waiting for a few parts for the tube bender and the tube roller.
Unfortunately suppliers are very busy.
I did found a few nice goodies for this build:
1992. Shall I blast and paint them?
Left: Manitou 90's fork crown.
Removed the damaged steering tube.
Looks pretty beaten up. I'll file it a bit and check if there are no cracks.
Looking better. We'll see where this ends.
All three holes are 28,6mm diameter or 1 1/8".
Unfortunately suppliers are very busy.

I am enjoying watching this all come together. When I first saw you posting about building coaster brake hubs, I thought it was just crazy talk. I remember thinking to myself, this guy is crazy and this will never happen. Keep it up!!! I am really enjoying this.

And another step:
Very tight mitre! Very small gap (0,5mm) on the bottom.
You can see little inconsistencies from the tube roller. Learning to work with that.
To close the gap a little bit, I did bend the tube back a few millimeters.
Next time I'll notch/mitre the tube a little bit longer so I can file it to fit perfectly.
Learning a lot from this one.

Been trying to source drive train parts to build a shaft drive single speed but have had no luck finding the cog to mount to a coaster brake hub. Can you help?
