ORBO 26.0 X 27.5 Flyer

I picked up this 27.5” State Klunker frame and fork during their holiday sales period. I have one with the 27.5” x 2.40 tires. It has always seemed a little tall. So my goal is to build the new frame up with a 26” heavy duty wheel set or an internal gear wheel set.
We’ve been in Artic glacier mode for the the last couple of weeks, along with a won’t go away cold virus. It finally got above 40 today so I dug out an old 26” wheel set to see how the geometry would work out.
I had the stem and seat post on hand from other projects. I’ll probably borrow a better existing wheelset from another bike. I have a set of skin wall knobbies for tires.
This may or may not get finished in the time allotted, depends on weather and a few other life things going on.

Another Mullet bike! 27.5 up front or both 26"? I like the straightbar frame. The 2.4 tires will really make it look big.

I take a multi vitamin and a big dose of vitamin C with bfast everyday. That seems to keep the colds shorter and milder.

26” front and back, saw some 26” x 45mm wheels available. Not wanting to pump a bunch of money to this but I’m tempted.
I’ve not been as down with cold/flu stuff like I’ve had since I retired from teaching in 2005. I Eat healthy, exercise, had RSV, Flu, Covid, pneumonia vaccinations. We were exposed to way too many people during Christmas week, it hit me the day after returning home.

Sorry to hear you got the crud, I just got over it last week. Love the bike. But I have to say, you're garage is way too neatly organized. Maybe a little clutter here and there? J/K Looking forward to the build!

Thanks. You’re only seeing my wife’s side of the garage. When her car is out I have open workspace. The other side is full of stuff.

A few parts and bits. Nasal congestion stuff winding down, hernia surgery up next. A few weeks away.
The bike is my diversion, just have to be cautious. Doubting that it gets finished in time, might carry over to Summer BO.

22F degrees outside, not sure about unheated garage, it was way cold as well. I installed the bottom bracket, chainring and crank arms, actually from a ‘90 GT/Harley Davidson LE bike.
Saddle is a Gyes import similar to a Brooks, but lesser quality. The saddle framework is patina painted to resemble an old rusted piece.
I stopped before frostbite set in.

That’s patina from the manufacturer on the saddle structure. I’m a vinegar, paint dabbler and abrasion/abrasive kind of worker.

Diggin' all the ideas on this MF! The matte black wide rims will really compliment the sage green frame color. And gumwall tires are always winners in my book.

The virus' traveling around the country this winter have been ferocious. I can't shake my chest congestion from just after Thanksgiving. Lost my voice for almost 3 weeks. And the worst is I think my singing range has lost 3-4 notes on the top end. Still hoping that will come back.

Anyway, hope the forthcoming surgery goes well.

Great looking frame & start. I’ve had a Gyes saddle for years and am always surprised how comfy it is. Well formed to my sit bones I guess. My newer Brooks hasn’t become that well broken in just yet.

Got some 33mm Stans Rim Tape and added to rims. It’s hard to apply without bubbles, shouldn’t really be an issue with using tubes. Not sure how it performs with the tubeless setups though.
Mounted the gumwalls.
