Welcome! Sounds like a great project. Some pics would be good to see what the paint needs. You might be able to clean it up pretty well with 0000 steel wool and WD40, depending how bad the rust is. Enjoy the forum, this is a fun place to hang out!

I was able to get some work done on the forks today. You can see the legs don’t match. We used my dad’s bender and expertise. You gotta love the homemade die made out of pressure treated lumber. It took a fair amount tweaking but we were able to get them pretty darn good. At this point...

RJ the Bike Guy is good for those kinds of videos on YouTube. I’ve had good success with the 2x4 method, just go slow.

Love it! I don’t think you can go wrong with the colors you’re considering. I think it would also look good in satin dark maroon or taupe.
