New departure model d hub issues

Glad to hear that the brake's back working, but it's a bummer about the chain. You can't just run down to the skip-tooth store...

I think the large brass 'bullets' might be wiper delete covers. Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum. You might consider placing this query in the 'How-To' section to get a faster response. I'm no expert on coasters, but I believe proper lubricant selection plays a huge role in establishing consistent results.

    Fork and stem help?

Marigold? Caterpillar Yellow? Yellow is a difficult color to match perfectly.

Persons Supreme? What year was this bike made?

Yep. There is likely a date code stamped under the bottom bracket (where the pedals attach).

Persons Supreme? What year was this bike made?

CWC frame, probably a 50-52 Western Flyer--they were known to come in that color scheme and chainring. Persons-Majestic was the manufacturer of the pedals, and probably the saddle. Definitely worth the Jackson!

    ‘67 Murray F5 Eliminator restoration

Preparing the labels isn't the problem, that's the easy part. The real issue is capturing the image, which is on a curved surface and can't be made flat--a simple photograph will always be distorted. Perhaps a wand scanner could accomplish the job?

    ‘67 Murray F5 Eliminator restoration

It's a shame about the license sticker. I gotta wonder if there isn't some sort of camera app that would allow preserving such graphics so they could be duplicated on printable vinyl. It's worth investigating, I think.

    Are all axles created equally?

Here's a place that can supply the proper BSCY nuts in stainless steel for less than $4.00 apiece. You will find it very difficult to obtain 26TPI fasteners at a local hardware store--that size is pretty unique to bicycles...

You'll have your own solution, but were it mine, I'd be contemplating modifying the engine to surround the headtube, concealing it. That would place it further back, but not so much that it interferes with the rider's knees. The long stem could pass straight through a hole cut in the top of...

Yeah, those spokes don't look so good...especially the broken one in the next-to-last photo.

    Are all axles created equally?

They can be--almost all cutting tools are. I found a set on eBay a few years back for cheap, but only the metric sizes.

    Are all axles created equally?

A jeweler triangle file has the proper 60° slope to accomplish the job on SAE threads. Personally. I'd seek out a 26TPI thread chaser, which is a cross between a hardened nut and a cutting die. That's the easiest way to renew those threads regularly--the files are better used in a pinch.

Can anyone recommend a clamp type brake lever?

Won't you have to remove those things to get the old pieces off? Just how broken IS this lever?

    Fork and stem help?

That little 'doodad' consists of three pieces--a cap, a bolt, and a star-fangled nut. There is a special tool for driving the star nut into the new fork's steerer tube to a specific depth. The cap and bolt are then installed and used to set the pre-load tension of the entire bearing stack...

Vintage Schwinn Exerciser -- Free! (Columbia, MD)

I know these things are desirable to some ratters, mostly for the enormous chainring on the crank. And, you can't beat the price...unless they pay you. https://baltimore.craigslist.org/zip/d/columbia-exercise-bike-schwinn/7631382272.html
