    PSYCHOTIC REACTION (7/23-back-n-black)

Re: PSYCHOTIC REACTION (update 5/29) Love the frame. Those Elgin sprockets have long been one of my favorites. I gotta say I liked the other bars better, but the Springer more than makes up for it. You bike from last year will be hard to beat in my opinion, but you are on the right track.

    My newly acquired artwork

That is the same opinion of many in the community. My in-laws both went to school there as well. My main goal in buying them was to be sure at least one of the mosaics stays in the school.

    My newly acquired artwork

They had one hanging in the cafeteria that was a 28'x6' Kansas farm scene. If I had room to display it I would have bought it. Winning bid was only $55. There were so many cool mosaics to be had, if I had room to display them I would have bought more.

    The Conundrum

Hey Judd! Did you fall asleep at the workbench? Just a hair over two months left, wake up and give me something to drool over!

    My newly acquired artwork

My wife teaches 8th grade at our local middle school. The building used to be the high school before the new high school was built. From 1962-70 the art students made tile mosaics that have hung in the hallways since they were created. With the passage of a bond issue last year the school is...

    replacing spokes

Model Ds are quite common in our little community and shouldn't be hard to find a replacement (I have one in excellent shape I could part with). I would hang the wood clads up and replace them with modern rims. Safer to ride and no depreciation to the bike.

Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Done!

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Back it up The hardest part was figuring out the mount. Luckily I scrounged up the clips in one of my bins o' stuff.

    replacing spokes

Mikey has the right idea. Unless you are going for a correct restoration hang 'em up. Unless you have a super rare hub you should be able to find the same model to lace into your new rims. What size are the original wheels?

    chrome welding ?

I have never worried about it, but I'm no pro. Chroming involves several layers of copper plate, a couple layers of nickel, followed by the layers of chromium.

Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Done!

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Back it up The wire I used to tie the spokes was too big so I cut the front loose and will redo the front later this weekend after I get the correct wire. I did take the bike out to join my Coaster BC brothers and sisters for our annual Tandem Night Pub Pedal...

    Cayo Hueso Cruiser riding low!

Re: First Ever Build Looks like a cool build in the works. In the For Sale forum there is a thread that has several pages of places to find the parts you need, or you can just click HERE. I fixed a couple of your pics. This may help http://ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1832

Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Done!

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Tied and soldered Since Klunkers see some extreme use the bike needs all the strength it can get. I decided to try my hand at the old school art of tying and soldering the spokes. I watched as each joint looked better and better as I learned. I still need...

Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Done!

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Ready for Tandem Night! Feeling artsy again this morning. I found a couple spring clips to mount my flashlight/tail light. I also found a more fitting temporary saddle. Much better than the GT seats. Now I need another one to hold until I get my...

Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- Done!

Re: Rare Bird- '37 BSA Tandem- She's a roller! Got a little work done today. I wanted to test ride the bike to make sure the Duomatic was working correctly. I only had one pair of close to matching seats so I threw them on. How did we ride these for miles at a time when we were kids...

    read roadbike tire sizes

Look for a F10 (635) or F13 (622) on the sidewall. Another identifier that used to be used.
