I guess Ill buy tires, grips, bartape, and new brake pads, and flip it. Unless my brother wants it.Frame really is in nice shape. Shimano hardware. I need to get off the couch and do work in the garage, but its so darn cold......
This is the 3rd bike I have gotton off of freecycle. It is a subscribed to forum, and nothing can be sold. Its made to save things from the landfills. I have given gallons of paint away, car parts, etc. Got this extra tall Ross 10-speed today
not sure if Im gonna buy tires for it and TRY to ride...
got this 60's evans /Colson for a trade. It has a Bendix 2 speed hub w//shifter. Started cleaning it up, but ran out of steam. Im fighting a cold. Ill start a Build thread next week. Ony problem is its a middle weight, and I bought a set of tan tires for it, but in balloons..... Ill try 26 X...
at home and fighting a cold today. Bored, so I turned the heat on in the garage. Took down my older tanker/Kruiser Guaranty bike, which just didnt do it for me.
so, I had a set of MTB wheels, a ton of deraillers and shifters and brakes. Here is the final design. It rides well, 12 speed. All new...
like Luke said, primer is porous. Sucks up moisture, and rusts. Surely you have seen brand new fenders on cars, that werent painted. A year later they are a rusty mess. ya gotta seal it with something...clear, color, or, well, even wax.
no leg pulling. Im serious. Its nice, but not worth much....Ill send ya 20 to ship it to me. I can see it on the front of a high framed chopper. Mine, not yours....LOL Doesnt need to work..
week betweeen recoating(2 toning). get on rustoleums website, search recoat time. I called them when I painted my car, they knew less than I knew. And dont sand between coats. Mask and spray it, peal mask, asap, and enjoy!
yes, Rusto has its pluses....like painting something 1 color. Cause of the fish-oil in it, it flows nicely. lasts well over rust. paint the porch glider, its good. Quality bike? 2 tone? Never again for me. Heck, I painted my old chevy station wagon with it...roll and tipped....Bright red o top...
No,the testors was fine.i painted cars for 20years.....actually it only crazed where I scratchrd it up with a scotchbrite.so I opened the skinned paint.rustoleum is the devil.I lacquer only now.fast dry. Then any clear..
depends on the preparation. if ya sand the primer with 320 or 400, and spray, it should hold up well. It never holds up like factory, but the flat colors are easy to spray a touch up.
im a clean-freak, and clean my bikes after every ride. Whitewalls MUST be clean, but my red and white tires, well, the tread is dirty. Keeping them clean is , well, useless.Did ya Build it to ride or show?
