    "Death rod" briggs powered Murray

Awesome, wish I hadn't sold my old 3.5 briggs. Off topic, but what is that blue station wagon in the video?

    Re-routing chain

I did it to re-route my chain and add tension on a tall bike. It seemed to work fine

    1975 SCHWINN SCRAMBLER

What's the date code? I found a silver 75 years ago and stupidly tore it down and screwed it up. Turned out the date code was a November 74 and I tore apart what may have been one of the first Scramblers.

    old paint and lead

Incentive to leave those old paint jobs intact. But if I have to sand old paint, I go the extra mile and keep a caged canary nearby...

the crazy things i build when im bored

I don't think I could even count on both hands the number of parts bikes I've dragged home with fork legs jammed on over the original fork legs. Dangerous stuff right there, but I did it when I was a kid. The last one I brought home had sheet metal screws run through to at least hold the legs in...

Opinion question - Legal or no?

Quite true, our local impound lot has lots of bicycles on the other side of the fence. Including a few nice vintage ones.

Opinion question - Legal or no?

Here in NC, we just had a law passed that require ALL mopeds, scooter, etc, even under 50cc to be registered, taxed, and tagged. Still don't need a license to operate though, as far as I know.

OK wally world first - folding mountain bike !

I like that the stem is a foot long. It's going to do more folding than was intended.

    Who repaints Raleigh Choppers?

The auto paint store by my house will computer match anything you bring them and put it in an 11oz aerosol can for about $17. It isn't ppg but is close in durability. You might check paint shops around you and see if it is an option, then you can paint it yourself.

OK wally world first - folding mountain bike !

So in addition to incorrectly tightened brakes and steering, you now have the hope that it may fold in half while you are riding it on rigorous trails? I'm instantly on board with this.

    Craigslist nightmares and dreams...

But a $20 bike listed at this price... for 12 years! The dedication is what is most surprising. I've owned bikes for that long, but they aren't crap and I wasn't trying to get rid of them.

    Craigslist nightmares and dreams...

I've posted this one in this thread and the previous CL thread over the years. But here's an update. In at least its 11th or 12th year listed that I know of, since I first saw it when I moved to where I am now. But has probably been on longer than that. Was at $350 when I first saw it. Drops...

how do I clean up rusty skip tooth chain?

I like ATF best. I usually use pb blaster, then run the chain through some sos pad to knock the heavy rust off. Then I soak it in ATF for a few days and clean again. Then I use liquid wrench spray lightly and place in a ziploc bag to store.

    Explain The Schwinn Fasination

I have had tons of trikes. I actually liked my huffy the most because it had a diff. Made it much easier to ride. Town and Countries were junk, just a cheap trike kit on a 24" womens frame. The Schwinn name is referenced so much because of the facts stated above about popularity and a saturation...

    I QUIT

I have not had any issue with photobucket, unless it was a photobucket problem, not a forum issue. I just go to my photobucket picture, click on the "direct link" button to the right of the pic. Then paste that onto the site. Yeah, I think it will be smarter to just go to one of the other...

amf bicycle owner wants 250 good or bad?

I wouldn't call anything on that bike rare. Like FZ said, the seat might bring $20. If the light says "Schwinn Approved" on it somewhere, that might be worth a few bucks. But condition is just not there on this bike. My top price if I liked it and planned to ride it... $30, maybe

    Craigslist nightmares and dreams...

I'm not saying it's a bad bike. But you can see what components are involved, especially with that front downtube. I got into the burrito thing for a minute just to build a few. I personally don't like my feet that far in front of me, but they look cool. However, when I decided to let them go I...

    Craigslist nightmares and dreams...

Looks like a BMX style front, basic rear triangle, and some bars welded in between. If I could sell something like that for that kind of money, I'd be building one every day.

AMF Spirit of '76/Evel Knievel Tribute

My Mead , Columbia, and highwheeler are in the last pic of the first picture post. Brett, wish I'd known you were there as well. Future note to all: If you are at a NC bicycle show, and you see a guy with a large ring in the center of his nose, it's likely me. Or a raggedy old truck with...
