The raised letters on the rear tire was hitting the chain guard. Chain guard was cracked and plastic. The crank had been rubbing on the guard due to the warped, cracked plastic. (Unrelated to tire) Metal guard would have cleared with a spacer. Nobody wears bell bottom trousers anymore, so mostly...
