Why were girl's bikes blue and boy's bikes red?

Something I haven't really thought about. Have to say though the bikes I have for my Daughters (2yr old and 7yr old) are both pink.

Why were girl's bikes blue and boy's bikes red?

I don't have a sister but do remember my first decent BMX was red.

Unkown year Moulton Mini - ideas welcome!

The Moulton is a British designed & built bike, designed by the late Sir Alex Moulton. He also designed the suspension system used on the original Mini car. I have now hatched an evil plan for my little unsuspecting Moulton (insert evil laugh here). Will post progress as it happens chaps.

Unkown year Moulton Mini - ideas welcome!

The paint on it is actually really bad and not original. It has been rattle canned by someone at some point, painting over parts that shouldn't be painted. Even some of the chrome has been painted silver on it. Big problem with knowing what to do with it is the fact it's so small. The images...

    painting aluminum

Yeah it is really, just personal preferance to be honest. Probably doesn't make any real difference in the grand scheme of things.

SS Cruisers Newest Build........ The Dog Puller

Sweet build! Especially like the trailer but I too would have the woodwork darker. I have an old set of Silver Cross Pram (baby carriage?) wheels that would be great on a trailer.

    painting aluminum

Give it a scuff up and I personally would use etching primer on Aluminium before painting.

    Hot Rod Style Huffy Cranbrook

Lovely looking bike. Probably a good idea put forward by The Renaissance Man too. Plus it familiarises you with the bike. Living here in the U.K. it makes me well jealous that you guys can pick up nice bikes so cheaply. Here you would be lucky to find something along those lines for twice the...

Unkown year Moulton Mini - ideas welcome!

Quick question regarding Sturmey Archer hubs. Purely because I genuinely don't know. Does EVERY Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub feature a coaster brake?

Where do you guys get ideas or draw inspiration from?

Thanks for all the input. I have started by creating a new folder to put pic ideas in for inspiration. I have got a rough idea for a style, just not sure how to translate it onto the bike itself!

Where do you guys get ideas or draw inspiration from?

Hi guys, as you can see, I'm a relatively new member to the site. I am in the process of stripping my 1960's Moulton Mini, to rebuild as a modified/rat bike version in some shape or form. It might not be the best base for a project only having 14" wheels and not being a full sized Moulton, but...

Welcome, I'm in the UK too but miles away from you, just outside Stirling, Central Scotland!!

ape hangers when are they too tall?

I'd say it's all down to perspective really & the look you like. I sometimes like the look of huge apes that almost look too big for the bike they're fitted to. I suppose too tall would maybe be when you can no longer ride the bike properly?

    Springer Nanner (Banana) Seat

Great piece of work there. Any more on the bike it's been put on?

    Springer Nanner (Banana) Seat

Very interesting, I have a future project in my head this would be excellent for & I already have a now redundant springer saddle from my Moulton project.

    Raleigh sprite 27

Nice! What finish are you going for? Rust or O.G. paint? Also, for the look of the one in the pic, would you get away with flipping the original handlebars?

    My 2013 Felt "El Bandito"

Nice looking bike there! What method did you use to strip the paint from the frame?
