    Clear coat flat black?

Mixing clear with the flat paint helps to eliminate the annoying "chalking" when the paint is wiped down. This has been a standard old school practice for painting auto engine bays and parts.

    Clear coat flat black?

The trick with single stage flat black (not rattle can) is to mix the clear with the black. This is an old hot rodders trick to get a surface that can be cleaned.

    Repair minor wheel bends

I have used the above tool hundreds of times. It works well but it will crush Schwinn double wall rims (or any other double wall rims). You will end up with two flat spots on the top of the rim.

    Self-Centering headset? Why?

Technically this is called "Fretting" or "False Brinelling". Almost all cases are caused by a lubricant issue, more so than improper adjustment. Often grease with too high a viscosity is used in the headset. Remember that grease is only a source of oil, basically the carrier for the oil...

Custom high flange coaster brake hub

Mike, no problem selling the brake arm straps, well one problem: they are not cheap. They are laser cut and hand polished stainless steel and would retail for around $25 each.

    24T Rear Cog

Yes, you have twist teeth or ramps but you will never know the difference. The stock Shimano cassette cog had 9 squared tabs, grind 6 off and round off the other 3. Very simple, cheap, and lots of choices. Been doing this for at least a couple of decades.

    24T Rear Cog

I have modified many old Shimano cassette cogs into three pin coaster brake cogs. Lots of sizes to choose from.

    Springer Fork mistake?

First I will say that I have never ridden an "Import" springer fork so this does not apply to those. When building a bike with a springer fork I spent a a lot of time making sure that both blades were perfectly aligned and identical, along with using heavy duty (Adult) springs. My springer bikes...

That is the very rare model XA with the BMW style Boxer engine. The gun scabbard on this bike is for a Thompson sub machine gun.

    High Flange Coaster Brake Hub

I just finished the first of my high flange coaster brake hubs, Done except I need to etch the logo into the brake arm. This is a continuation of the one-off project by Guy Doss and Amir Avitzur but with more details and soon available for sale. These can be matched to my existing front hubs.

Custom high flange coaster brake hub

The first hub shell is finished being riveted together and the brake arm and brake strap have been polished. Just a few more details left to finish like electro chemical etching the brake arm logo.

    Aluminum Cruiser Frames

Well I have thought about making more bikes but not the same one, been there done that. Now I am thinking of something in an aluminum & carbon mix with tank, fenders, etc... Art Deco, Uber cool but major bucks.

    Aluminum Cruiser Frames

Before you could buy a modern built aluminum frame I built my own. I built two of these from scratch. They started as just lengths of tubing. Tubing was bent, taper swaged, and ovalized as needed. I used the tools at Hooker Headers for this. These two bikes were shown at the industry Interbike...
