That is the very rare model XA with the BMW style Boxer engine. The gun scabbard on this bike is for a Thompson sub machine gun.

c.p., you are correct. It looks like the Thompson with scabbard was for motorcycle use and the M1 Garand with scabbard mounted on a jeep. I swear I've seen Army motorcycles mounted with Garands, but maybe I'm mistaken. Either one would provide awesome firepower shooting from a vehicle. Gary
