    What is This Bike?

Good looking bike no matter what it is.

Just popped for a Schwinn chopper; pix and questions!!!

Bars arrived yesterday. They are very wide. Definitely a drag bar. I will put vinegar on and seal with linseed oil. I definitely have room for the top of the triple and a BMX stem. The OCC triple is being saved for another build. I am using a laid back seat pin. I also need a carriage bolt and...

Just popped for a Schwinn chopper; pix and questions!!!

Definitely going for the dual 20s. I will paint one of my $2 Box BMX rims flat black. It is a good thing I ordered short cranks as dual 20’s will cause problems with anything conventional. Threw the first coat of linseed oil onto the frame after rinsing the stripper with Vinegar. Slow and very...

Proposed stance: I may switch to a 20” rim when I look at the stance; after all, even the shortest cranks would hit the tyres...

Just popped for a Schwinn chopper; pix and questions!!!

I am hoping my crank, hub, BB and drop out extenders arrive by the time I smooth out this frame. I may even make a...

    New project: Gossamer the Bike!

Stopped the chain jump with one home-grown and another commercially available devise so the chain doesn’t get sucked between the crank and BB; my challenge now is getting a bit more tension on the chain. I have always had a challenge when going single speed on a bike built for mechanisms.

    Cheap freewheel removal

Perfect! Thank both of you! So I gotta grab a punch. Should I get some liquid wrench, as well?

    Cheap freewheel removal

On a hub for a crummy department store bike comes crunchy ball bearings and an el cheapo freewheel. This el cheapo freewheel only has two detents on the body, no notches for a removal tool. So, what do I do?

Just popped for a Schwinn chopper; pix and questions!!!

I am almost to the point on most of these bits I am shaving that I will have to file from this point onward. After all, the rear wheel is going to be in a place where neither rims brakes will work and a fender would be useless. A little more:
