Here's a good one... I'm no expert on old bikes, surely, but doubt that I would pay more than $75 for this bike, and that would primarily be just the frame, handlebars and seat. This guy sets a harsh tone right at the start. I usually avoid even contacting these types of ads. What do you guys do?

A lot of people instantly equate anything Schwinn - regardless of age or antiquity - to mean money. Unfortunately, or perhaps seriously fortunately, a few of us know differently. Wife of No Control bought a Schwinn Airdyne a couple years ago, expecting it to be a good choice. It was total crap...

I don't really collect anything. In fact, I do my darndest to lighten my load. I've got about 40 bikes, but with the exception of a couple personal riders, I consider them as raw materials. Still, I feel that I have too much. I try to adhere to the Tyler Durden principle.

Nice bike. I have a couple Varsities and Continental frames, with plans to do the same.

If I sell one of my bikes, I rarely make a profit. I'm simply happy to have my hobby support itself. Once in a while a killer deal plops into my lap, and I'll buy it just to flip.

My entire childhood was spent riding cracked, threadbare tires. If you wore your tire out, your next tire was typically a take-off from something else. The nearest LBS was an hour away, and even if you got yourself there, you couldn't afford a new tire anyway.

I like your sense of style, GTV. I too enjoy the clean, spartan look in my bikes. I like the "art" of bikes, and its apparent that you like it as well. Nice builds.
