That's what I thought, and bought the FB4 Comp 699.00 version - back when the Dolos were $350.00 and not coming down in price. Much better bike IMHO. The difference in wheel/tire weight was substantial. (I've owned 2 Beasts). Less Rotating Mass means a lot less exercise.

I have the Park version of that, mounted on my work bench. Only drawback is that you cannot get to the other side of the bike without taking it off, turning the bike around and re-mounting it. It's not as much trouble as it sounds. Park makes great stuff that will re-sell in the future if you...

I have not done this, but I'd say you need to shorten the truss rods also. Pre-loading the fork would not be desirable IMHO.

Short answer YES. As everyone has said, you get the bike boxed exactly the way your LBS receives their bikes. If you can't un-box and unpack a bike, and put the front wheel on it, you may need profession help. Other than that, it all depends on the bike you choose, and who manufactured it...

And when your pump hand disinfecting cleaner runs low, refill it with 1/2 Blue Dawn, a nice splash of vinegar, and 1/2 water. Cuts the grease off your hands and is gentle on the old skin. Yes, I am cheap! Ha!

I flip a lot of bikes, so they are mostly relatively new box store bikes. One thing I can say for these cheap BSO's (bicycle shaped objects) is that the paint/graphics on them is very good and durable. You might not want to take this advice on your older vintage Schwinn where the graphics are...

Good score. I do a lot of yard sales. I always ask if they have any bikes for sale. Surprising how often they say they forgot to roll them out for the sale.

If you get a good wrench on it, use a cabinet clamp to clamp the wrench on so it can't slip off. put a block under the crank so that it can't move, they hit the wrench with a brass hammer. In other words set things up so that the only thing that can move is the lock nut, and wail away.
