    How wide?

That bike will look somewhat goofy with skinny rims like that on a frame that takes 4" rims. Do it once, do it right. Find a second hand beast and mount the wheels/tires, and save up for a three speed.

    Roadmaster Satelite Small Tanker 20"

I'm building one right now with my 6 yr old son, but mine is older, traded it for a frame, guy wanted 35 bucks for it, so they are not worth much. Mine has a different tank, no middle bar or rear rack, 20 spoke rims. When I'm done it should be pretty cool, it looks like a mini felt, kind of.

How to fade chrome/make it dull??

Did this a few days ago, I used 180 grit, best to get the sand paper that is on pads, easier to sand with. If you use a grit that is too rough it will scratch it and make it look like crap. Or scotchbrite, but I could not find single pads.

    Clear coat over raw metal

I saw the boiled linseed oil trick as well, most swear by it, was going to try that until I found the Gibbs. Penetrol also seems good, but some say it will crack. Clearing sounds good, but since there really isn't any UV protection in the rattle can types, it can yellow, and most say that rust...

    Clear coat over raw metal

Alrigthy, so I did some more research and since I already have Gibbs, I'm going that route. I used it before on a MAG tranny and it still looks awesome. Not sure why I didn't think about this, but saw the can on the shelf, did a quick internet search and it seems that if you wipe it down a few...

Thoughts on riding long distance. Well, 20 miles.

I too have a friend that was a triathelite, damn good one as well. That crazy kook rode over 60 miles a day on top of running and swimming and having a full time job. No wonder his marrilge didn't last. I was an avid mountain bike rider and when I would ride with him it was a joke. I would be...

Thoughts on riding long distance. Well, 20 miles.

I run 4.25 inch tires on my Ruff, and it's a frickn workout riding more that 5 miles. I run 3.45's on my felt and compared the the ruff, it's a dream. But my fixie just plan flies.

    Clear coat over raw metal

^^ Yeah, I think I'm over thinking this, I'm just going to clear it like you state and make this easy, even though it has taken me hours to strip this thing.. Thanks

How does one seal a bare metal bike, one that has been stripped then pretty much polished?

    Clear coat over raw metal

Does the oil have an oily feel, do you think this method work for 6 year old that will kind on beat on the bike? Thanks

    Clear coat over raw metal

I'm stripping all the paint off a kids bike, was going to paint it blue but after I used wire wheels to remove the rest of the paint, my son now wants to keep it raw. Been doing a little reading, need to clear it somehow. What are the steps after it's all prepped, do I use a clear adhesion...

Mike Wolfe of American Pickers & FELT Bicycles create the "Red Wolfe" Bike

I have an older style felt and it is great to ride even with me being 6-3, but a lay back seat post helps a lot. I like the show, I think the both of them can be funny as hell, but I really like the places they go and the people they meet. It's just amazing the amount of stuff people collect...

    BUILD OFF #9 RULES EXPERIMENT?

^^, Now that is cool! I think if my son were to do that on this old bike the frame would fold. No suspension on my kids bike, this will be used for cruising on the flats of chicago, plus I don't have those skills.

    BUILD OFF #9 RULES EXPERIMENT?

Can we do kids bikes, I have a 50 year old amf, 20" bike that I'm about to start putting together with the help of my son (he is only 6)? Granted, I know we are not going to win any awards with a bike that I'm going to strip/paint and add new parts, but I think my son would get a kick out of it...

    What A Bunch of Fattys!

    "FAT BIKES CATCHING ON"

That guy is in his 50's, don't think he will be at any x games.

    NO NAME BOBBER

Do you use a build up primer after the self etch, or just spray over the self etch?

Juggernaut Fat Tire Bike ............er Trike?

    Cool as hell, but goofy.

    Seat paint?

You can't buy spray paint here in chicago off the shelves, you either have to go out of the city or buy online. This damn bike is causing me a small fortune, thank god I got the bike as a trade, but my son wants it to look like my black and blue felt so I have buy pretty much all new parts.
