    The Game Before The Internet.

I was born in 1969 and I'm not old! I just got into bikes a few years back but I remember scanning the paper for guitars. Note for the kids: the paper was like an iPad that came to your house every morning after you read it you could line a birdcage with it.

    Which hub should I use

I'll go with the classic then. Any advice on what size cog to use? I'm guessing the one on it now (on the old steel rims) is a 17 tooth. Would I see much improvement with a 19 tooth or should I jump to a 21?

    Which hub should I use

I've got 2 hubs to choose from for my Raleigh 20. 1) SA aw Pros Correct for bike, English just like the bike, bomb proof, good old classic shifter Cons Heavy, geared a little wide. Shimano nexus 3 Pros Lighter, newer, has coaster brake so no need for rear brake, geared a little better Cons...

Painting rims that are used with rim brakes

I've seen lots of posts of people painting their rims. Mostly fixies and cruisers. I am modding a raleigh twenty and want to put alloy rims. Most likely I will buy a thrift store bike and steal the rims off that. Most of the time they are girls bikes and have either white or pink rims. Can I...

    New (to me) 20

that's when a trip to the LBS is in order....Pay them 20 bucks or loose the rest of my hair and feel like a failure? I would have just spent that 20 dollars on Starbucks anyway.

    New (to me) 20

I was gonna keep it as found but you know I can't do that. The brakes suck so I plan on replacing them. I got an adapter plate so I'm looking at a v brake in the front and maybe finally use that 7 speed hub I have and use the roller brake in back. Now is a as good of time as any to learn to...

86? Schwinn world sport, should I pull the trigger

The brooks has been on several bikes.... my rear end won't ride anything else. This is a really nice riding bike. Lighter than anything else I've ever ridden. But I've ridden some gas pipes in my day

I must have misread the post. Sorry for my misinformation. There's nothing like oddball parts to keep life interesting.

    Cottered Crank Conversion

I went through this last year with a Kahlkoff frame. I got the Cottered crak off but I had swiss cups. your standard spindle won't fit in it. You need a shimano spindle made for Italian bikes. You may be better off using a threadless bb. Velo Orange makes a good one, sunlite makes one too, but I...

    GOOD Bike shop experiences!

We have a ton of bike shops in St. Louis. Some or more spandexy than others. When I was first starting out building the kid working at one near me said "A bike can be anything you want it to be". Good advice for sure. They are mostly Trek and Giant but they have always been cool to me with my...
