    (ORBO) BMX/MTB/BOMBER/KLUNKER BO .....VOTING FINISHED!......

:) Be cool if it turned out they took over production down there and used lighter materials. My CP frame looks vary similar but (prior being introduced to Mr. Sawsall for a Matthews mono-shock conversion someday) comes in at 7.5 pounds, but someone destroyed most of the serial sadly. I know they...

Sweet. I'd take a close gander at those forks. They at least appear to be CP, and if they're the cromo variety, a dollars item :) They made two versions that look really similar, the hi-ten ones like in my avatar (has a small hole near the axle hole as if for a safety tab thingy) the others with...

That MasterSports is interesting... looks like it's a Cycle Pro rebadge? Heavy as sin, but everyone swears by the geo of those frames. Nice pick up :)

I think I'm leaning towards "Commitment Issues" since I never finish anything on time... or ever it seems ;)

http://www.cycle-frames.com/bicycle-frame-tubing/home.php Definitely a company you want to make sure you make your shopping list before you buy... their prices are reasonable, shipping minimums not so much... especially for those of us in California who are just down the road form them. For...

    (ORBO) BMX/MTB/BOMBER/KLUNKER BO .....VOTING FINISHED!......

Yeah, but there's the whole ability thing ;) You've worked with kids, you know how it is, somewhere along the way you just say "gimmie that, let me do it" and 'their project they did all by themselves' turns in to 90% dad with kiddo holding the tools and taking the credit... that'd be "my"...

Hence the lady''s frame... can usually score them for $30-40 :) And of course you'll bother, you've already go all the parts :) you know the disease will bite you.

    (ORBO) BMX/MTB/BOMBER/KLUNKER BO .....VOTING FINISHED!......

If it's any consolation, my BO frame is now a '96 Schwinn Homegrown hardtail... which was $150 shipped, aluminum, USA made and more than strong enough for anything thing I will ever throw at it. No, it's doesn't satisfy pre-war retro cool, but it will be retro it it's own way ;) Was going to do...

    (ORBO) BMX/MTB/BOMBER/KLUNKER BO .....VOTING FINISHED!......

Honestly? For that kind of money and the work you are going to put into it by throwing away all the craptastic WallyWorld parts, you are still likely to end up with a frame you'll snap in half as it sounds like you actually intend to RIDE this bike off road. Those retros they're selling are...

    (ORBO) BMX/MTB/BOMBER/KLUNKER BO .....VOTING FINISHED!......

The aluminum bits in these are eminently adaptable to pre-war Schwinn with a little creativity (like welding in a rear hoop to contain them) and they'll sell you just the inserts separately if you don't want the whole kit for about half price... at least they were willing to do so a year o so...

    (ORBO) BMX/MTB/BOMBER/KLUNKER BO .....VOTING FINISHED!......

I have to do my own welding huh? I can't just buy my frame 'used' from a buddy the same way I'd buy a modified old Schwinn, except that the buddy just happens to be a professional welder and just happens to be modifying to my specs with tubing he just happened to find in his shop after I just...

Mine will go up hill too :) Suspension corrected, but whether suspension happens or not will depend on budget at the last minute... all the forks that catch my eye cost as much as my priciest bikes.

Yeah, while it certainly looks like quality, it has a rather heavy look to it. Dare I say, it's rather clunky looking? (yes, I went there)

Those buggers! The second thing I was going to start hawking once I get my baby lathe up and running was a heat sink for Morrow hubs... now I'll look like a copy-cat. Grrr... :) But I guess that's what 'competition on the open market' is all about lol.

I suppose I should brake it down, oh boy... here we go- Wheelset- Araya 7x with Suzue HF hubs, Suntour freewheel, Cheng Shin WW snakes w/ Schwinn "original equipment" tubes Sidewinder bars, Suntour stem, Cycle Pro forks (NOS stickers), HD Tange Meriter clone headset w/ dirt skirt and Suntour...

Couldn't wait till winter- 1939 DX build

Sure, once the deluge blows over lol. But got a couple yesterday before the housepets started falling from the sky. Radder than OG Suntour? That's a tall order. Don't think a Tuff/Pro Neck would have enough material in it to be ground out to handle the bulge in the center of the Sidewinder...
