Annie the 1981 Sears Free Spirit 3-Speed

A build I showed you in my introductory post. She's come a long way. Named for the co-worker's daughter who will be receiving it. Rescued from the scrapper's trailer. Some fine tuning and final tweaks, and she's off to her new owner! It rides really nice as it is. Buttery smooth and...

Another Scrap Yard Survivor: 1975 Schwinn Suburban

Supreme Schwinn was a bicycle shop on the southside of Indianapolis for almost 100 years. It went out of business in 2019. June 4, 2019 | Susan Orr- Indianapolis Business Journal

Another Scrap Yard Survivor: 1975 Schwinn Suburban

Just picked this up last night. It's mostly complete. Straight wheels, decent paint. Missing handle bars and seat courtesy of my stash. I believe it to be a 1975 model. Dorothy Snider where are you?

Problem Adding A Rear Brake Set To A Pure Cycles Fix

Agreed. I'm an old fart, and back in the day it was Bicycle Braking 101 to always put heavier emphasis on rear braking to avoid endos and other horrors.

Problem Adding A Rear Brake Set To A Pure Cycles Fix

On that we can agree, my good fellow. I was gifted this particular machine...and a fine machine it is. But, I wanted to add a couple of personal touches to make it safer...and MINE! I heard back from the commie vendor. They claimed I was in error and they were not going to make this right. I...

Problem Adding A Rear Brake Set To A Pure Cycles Fix

I concur, my good man, and it looks like that's what I'll have to do. But that's not the point. I was lead to believe by the bike manufacturer that this recommended rear brake set would work. The vendor's description leads one to believe this brake set would work. Neither is the case. If I...

Problem Adding A Rear Brake Set To A Pure Cycles Fix

Effectively, that's what I have now. The bike came factory equipped with front brakes only. I consider that silly for a free-wheeling single speed. So, I contacted Pure, and they recommended this set for rear brakes because they didn't have anything in stock. With the set I received, the...

    26" Wheelset Help!!

https://www.worksmancycles.com/media/2021/2021FACTORYDIRECTPartsPrices.pdf Looks like they don't have online ordering. One would have to figure out what one needs, or call them to help you figure it out, then order over the phone.

    Newb From Indy

Thanks, buddy. Much appreciated. This seems like a chill place with some extremely talented members. The builds I’m seeing here are mind bogglingly cool.

    26" Wheelset Help!!

I don't know if these are the "best," but I just recently purchased a rear coaster brake wheel here: https://www.modernbike.com/wheel-master-26-inch-rear-wheels Claims to be made in USA. Seems to be of good quality. I haven't installed it on my build yet. I'll let you know how it goes.

    New old dude

Those builds are sweet and right up my alley. Cheap, simple, clean, and tough. Nice work.

Rescued Before The Scrap Man Got 'em!

This one I cleaned up for a friend's wife. It was gonna be scrapped too, and it was like brand new! The things folks throw away is nauseating. All it needed was tubes, tires, and a good scrubbing. I also cleaned and greased the crank and fork bearings. It is a solid, safe, fun bike. Yes...

Rescued Before The Scrap Man Got 'em!

These are my "daily drivers." 1990 26" Schwinn Frontier. The only new Schwinn I ever owned. 2019 Pure Cycles Fix, Adrenaline Shock energy drink branded promotional piece. A buddy worked for the beverage company, and he was tasked with assembling dozens of these for use as in-store...

Rescued Before The Scrap Man Got 'em!

Prestige, and yes, the fork is fubar. The previous owner didn’t know that and did an endo with it. That was the last time he rode it.
