this is my drawing/mock up of a motored bike i am going to build. so far i have most of the big parts -relaced Elgin wheelset with newer hubs and spokes -clinton side shaft engine (needs a little work but i have it unfrozen and mostly rebuilt) -two donor frames (instead of curved rear forks...

im with Cman up there, those forks are about as strong as they get, but the neck is a whole other story. id say for added support, looks, and security, why not try building a truss rod? it will counter the pressure of the brake drum pulling on the fork and usually look pretty cool

ive been told that Monark didnt exactly have a solid vin number system (i have a 1950god knows what year monark) but looking at the tank and frame, id say mid 60's. just my two cents

oh man, this just got alot cooler :mrgreen: my first bike (the first one i could call mine) was similar to this one, just blue. i remeber that you couldnt pedal to fast or else the chain would pop off, it had tires on it more expensive than the whole bike, and was covered in sponsor stickers...

anyone know how to place a year on this, i know it is not that old. . maybe nostalgic enough from my childhood

everything says made in the good ole USA and everything is original. went to my neighbors house and saw it hanging, asked is he had any other old bikes laying around or just frames "not really, theres that bike" and pointed to that one "its going to a good home so take it" :mrgreen:

yes, and only because ive been the sourse of that damage before :roll: landing off a jump or bunnyhop wrong. i bent my crank at the same time and cracked the cups nearly identical to what you have there. its odd, because they always have cracks and chips missing on BMX bikes when i rebuild...

found it just surfing round tumblr, i think the whole front end is aluminum bolted to the steel rear. in a little bigger picture there looks to be a bolt there at the center
