1989 Specialized Stump Jumper Revival Begins!

You going ot clearcoat over the body to preserve the paint from further wear? ...maybe i'm just a big dork but I'd list this, in the proverbial three ring binder of notes, as 'project longhorn' pretty much exactly because of those .... rather distinctive bars you stripped off (therea local...

[help wanted] Best focus to make an ACTUAL Huffy Parkside SE

You pretty much described what i do. Fairly tedious shifting up from the set gear to the next gear, set it, then shift all the way back to the highest gear, and on and on. However... Park Tools had an amazing tutorial that you pretty much described. (funny how the right answer can pop up more...

Duck Norris does indeed look quite nice. Geared hubs, frankly, look amazing. The alfine is easily a full hundred bucks more than my bike cost plus I'd have to rebuild my rear wheel. Might be a fun 'for later' project especially if I get my mitts on a frame and build up. The idea of a more...

I thought threadless stems were 1 1/8 so, what do I need an adaptor for? All the oens i'm seeing are 1' to 1 1/8th. Suggestions on seat? The chain guard looks like it can come off pretty simply, but the mounts are welded on.

Image heavy because I wanted to get shots of everything on the bike I thought was relevant. And here are a few quick shots of the sort of fields I go through. Look I know It's nothing grand, but I included those more to show what I ride through rather than a video f the full go. Advice would...

Thankfully indexed (Do they even still sell friction shifters?) My bike is only like a year old (unless it's been sitting in a warehouse for a few years that is.) I mainly go by ear on if it's good or not. Intentionally bring the H screw too far out, dial it back, and then start the process...

Video of Hardtail Party group ride klunkers on JEM trail

Funny thing is I just got done watching that video and the video where dude made his bike wit ha kick shift hub. A pity that the kick shift doesn't seem to work out that great because that is a super clean cockpit (can't get cleaner than no cables no levers right?) Loved the idea of him gunmetal...

    my next waste of money.

Looking at those starting out pictures. Breaks my heart to see a bike in that kind of shape. Even if you don't keep it, glad it's getting fixed up. Heck with the shortage going on you may even turn a profit if you sell.

    How often do you ride?

Daily now that I'm recovered from covid. Unfortunately I do maybe a mile and I'm huffing and coughing. Most days I finish my lap play frisbee with the dog. Do another lap about an hour later. I know, not much but I'm trying to build back up. Granted 'back up to-' was like... two miles before...

MTB ride: I was poorly equipped for this :D

Reading in I thought 1. this is going to end with broken bones isn't it? 2. The overgeared crowd are going to be jerks. I am glad to be wrong on both counts!

TL;DR I am dissatisfied with the fact Huffy's 'special edition' parkside isn't special at all. Instead of whining about it, I want to fix that.... but I am of low funds so it's 'piece at a time.' Alrighty then, What I have is a Huffy Parkside that's.... Rim brake mounts, twist shift (it is a...

Bike Work Stands! Homemade or store bought. What do you have? What have you built? Let's see your ideas.

Getting a proper stand is on the to get list, but considering I didn't know if I'd even be able to do the bike thing... bodge until I can get the proper thing. :)

Bike Work Stands! Homemade or store bought. What do you have? What have you built? Let's see your ideas.

Amusingly: I use a pair of fairly tall plastic saw horses. roll bike between 'em, slide a two by board, lift bike so the front of the seat hangs on the board, slide second board behind the seat, and use a pair of quick release clamps to hold the boards together. It's .... cumbersome, and it...

New Guy with a (Don't Laugh) Walmart Bike

Bike Model: Huffy Parkside Men's 27.5 SE That was taken with my phone. So apologies for lack in quality. By that point I'd put a new crank on (that fit the existing square taper) and shortly after that photo I'd de-stickered it because 'really my guy? You're going to call this 'special edition'...
