I paid $140 for this repro, which has bondo all over the fenders. An original for $250, I'd buy it.

Not sure on the price or value, but it looks like a decent and solid bike. Depending on how much work he needs done, I'd trade it. Can't you discount your own personal labor rate??? :D

I bought the 26x1 3/8 for my wife's Schwinn S-7 rims at the LBS. They have a street tread on them. I think paid something like $14 each. I believe that they're Kenda's.

I bit the bullet and took it to an old-timer LBS. Charged me only $25 to rebuild the rear hub. For that price, I also took him another bike to get the rear hub rebuilt. That bike also had some issue with the neck bearings. Fixed both bikes for $60. Now both stop better than when new...
