bike donations and tax? assigned value?

well, the three bikes and one stretch i gave to a local christian mission. i guess if i went back and lucked into seeing the same person, they might remember me. the other stretch i gave to the neighborhood community center. i don't know if they're considered a charitable organization. i was...

bike donations and tax? assigned value?

i gave away a few bikes this past christmas, but wasn't thinking about the tax part of them being a charitable donation. for most of them i was offered a receipt, but i said i didn't need one. now with all the tax ads on tv i realise i should have considered it. so can i add them when i do...

Let's see those things never meant for a bike on your bike!

my pimpin' handlebars, from some wrough iron looking pieces i picked up at the habitat restore my tentative future school colors bike. if i get it worked out in the next couple days, it'll also get a sort of bike hood ornament made from a keychain.

Let's see those things never meant for a bike on your bike!

a messenger bag on my main rider and a diamond on the front axle (no, i can't explain why. if i find more, you'll keep seing it though) also been playing with some longtail cargo bike ideas. one with a3 flight bags and a hardshell golf bag the other is more like a flatbed, but will...

    24" RIMS/TIRES ON A 26" BIKE?

i just tried it this morning on one of my stretches (murray montery frame originally). i was able to bend on the frame some and get it on, but couldn't get the chain to clear. i liked the look, but i guess i'll need to look into those offset sprockets if i want to try and go with it.

let me see your chopper bicycles

i never compleatly finished any of my choppers, but here are their end points stretched wcc the one i've had the longest. 24x3 on the rear makes derailleur gears hard to run. i got frustrated with it and if i go back to work on it i mean to strip it all off and make it a single speed or go...

have a habitat restore nearby? check for cheap paint

actually, i did put it on later. i got caught up in the experiment and forgot, but i remembered opening that type of gooseneck up before so i found one and got it on afterward. unless the handlebar breaks though, it is on to stay. i'm not sure how many times it can take being opened up that far...

have a habitat restore nearby? check for cheap paint

another restore score for a bike i put a little caged section on (i just found out what that;s called) and wanted some handle bars to match. all i saw on a quick search were ape hanger style though, and costly, so i made my own. the cage parts i got for $3.50 apiece at the restore, and the...

    Fenders vs. No Fenders

has anyone tried those indian style fiberglass fenders? i think i'd like to try them on at least one bike, but they're kinda spendy. plus i'd need two different sizes. i like the look though.

    Chopper Nation video-chain

that's almost how it is here. since i got my truck i've been able take my bike downtown and do the river walk though. not organised, but still a kind of casual atmosphere. the only organised casual ride i know about here is the mayors ride on labor day and memorial day. i did it for the first...

    What's your story?

it's come and gone a couple times. *aw lawd, now you got him started* my parents couldn't afford to get me the kind of bikes that were popular at the time (late 60's-early 70's). i think that may have fueled the first collection. as i became more mechanicly inclined i came across...

    basman?/fore-aft? seatpost.

no really, since it goes forward instead of laying back. i found out the name though. t seatpost. it's looking like i'll have to try making my own though.

    Fenders vs. No Fenders

none of mine have them, but it's mostly because i'm starting with something that didn't have them anyway. part also from memories as a kid of them being the first thing to start rattling and rubbing. i'm some better at bike maintenace now though, plus it's something i'm wanting to do on a couple...

    basman?/fore-aft? seatpost.

i don't know what they're really called. it seems like basmans always have them though. the seatpost that has a horizontal section so you can slide the seat forward 3-6"(?) or so. since i've been playing with modding frames (and not always getting the ergos quite right) something like that would...

    Chopper Nation video-chain

thanks. i love these. i tend to look at them indivisually all the time, so having them grouped together is really good. i like all the customs and just the idea of so many riding together.
