    36"s... where will it end?

Re: 36 someone here made one close to that. do a search for something like "overcompensator". i've been wanting to try it too, but i don't know if i'd ever come up with the cash for it. edit: nevermind, it's the same one skipton posted. i thought i remembered it sitting lower.

    a house built for bicyclists

if msn is your home page you probaly saw this, but i'll post it anyway. wasn't as much as i expected when i saw the title. i guess my house is made for bicyclists too since i'm in it. http://realestate.msn.com/house-built-for-bicyclists

    How fast can you ride?

going by my bike computer on my favorite stretch, i hit 24.9mph. there is a long pretty level street near me i call my salt flats where i tried it a few times, but i could never hit 25. if i get my skinny tire stretch back together and get a new computer (i can't seem to keep one working) i'll...

    ** Let's see your Bicycle Winter pic's **

just a pic from a current build. i think i took it 3-4 weeks ago we're having a nearly snowless and warmer than average winter so far. best winter ever if you ask me

    Shifter questions

i've had an idea kinda brewing, but i need a new project (or the right hub to get me going on a current project) before i can try it. say you weld a section of handlebar like a stick shift on the frame where you want a shifter, then just take the twistgrip or thumb shifter and mount it at the...

    internal multi-speed hub experience

they are, but i don't think they move up through their gear range on their own. or do they? as i understood it the "cv" meant adjustability being infinitly variable over whatever it's range is, but still being set whereever you adjust the shifter?

    some cheap lights for experimenting

had to do a quick search. yeah, that's it. has it held up well? do the batteries last very long? my initial plan for these will involve welding my housing idea to the frame i'm working on so i want it to be worth doing. thanks.

    internal multi-speed hub experience

do you know, or did they mention if are they constantly adjusting just because they can, or because they feel like where they set it is drifting or something? i can see constanly playing with it. kinda like how you do with a motorcycle or car, letting up or giving more gas as you need to. if...

    some cheap lights for experimenting

a couple of people at work told me about these a buck each at a place called family dollar here, but they could be in other places.they have three button batteries in them, and an on/off switch at the tail end. could be a two edged sword though. cheap enough to buy, but not worth building an...

    Shimano Shifter and S-A Hub

do you mean 3sp coaster brake? every time i've asked the answer has been no, or at best barely getting 2 of the three to work with one being sketchy. i'm in the same boat though. i have a couple of shimano shifters and s/a hubs.

    My collection

you should probaly count your blessings. it's a slippery slope. "can't get them all in one picture" turns to "can't get them all in one building" so fast you'll wonder how it happened.

    internal multi-speed hub experience

my experience is pretty minimal, but i'd like to work with a few more since the chainline is easier to deal with than a derailleur. i actually like derail's better, but they're hard to line up with 3" or more tires, and altering the frame sometimes makes them hard to use also. way back i had a...

    Exploded Bikes

hey that looks exactly like my work bench if you add 3-4 times as many bike parts, some car parts and home project bits, misplaced tools and spill the oil. yep. exactly like it.

    The One That Got Away.

i guess the last i remember is passing on a schwinn stingray 3 speed. it was at a thrift store i stop in on my way to work. i can't remember why i didn't get it. i was either running late or maybe on my motorcyle and couldn't pick it up. more than likely it wouldn't have been more than about $20...

    Alchemist Custom Bicycles Gallery

Re: Deven Science Labs i think this could help me. i have 3 old cantilever frames that are welded together so close and so strong i can't cut them apart right at that point under the seat post. they may end up meeting suzzzy afterall.

    any regular 2sp kickback users?

the 14sp is a (and i'm about to butcher some spelling) rohloff. no way i'm affording one of those. if i could do cost is no object, i think i'd like to try a nuvinci. running two gear cables might throw a wrench in things, but the idea of it is interesting.

    any regular 2sp kickback users?

i've got a 4 speed nexus i found in a pile of parts, but when i asked about it here (and i think maybe bike forums too) i was told the front sprocket has to be pretty small to get a good gear range, plus i never looked for a shifter after hearing that. my front sprocket size is set for this...

    any regular 2sp kickback users?

i don't have it already, i was just trying to figure out my options. it's for my school bike i made a chain guard for. that's why i can't do a derailleur. and i got a 24x3 on it that hampers that too. looks like a three speed is what i'm gonna try for. i gave a little more weight to the...

Let's see those things never meant for a bike on your bike!

i like this. hard to tell in this pic (i never took a specific pic of it) but there's a piece of square tube welded to the middle of the front handlebar for something similar, but i never worked out what it would be also in relation to the thread, the backrests are from a motorcycle, the...

    any regular 2sp kickback users?

thanks everyone. guess i'll drop it from consideration for this project. yeah, i like gears on stretches. my main one has five and the second is a 7sp, but they're derailleurs and won't work for this. i don't have the cash for an internal 8sp. looks like it will be an internal 3sp i try to work...
