NOV 10 So Cal Rat Rod Ride

Hey, folks- I sort of look at it this way- If it rains on us we all get Epic Hard Core Awards. You know- for being so hard core and all. And what's the worst that can happen? Oh, yeah- we could get stuck on the river bed when this big flood comes, and then get washed out to sea and eaten up by a...

    A ride for Today

It's Sunday afternoon, and I just dropped off Troy at his place, and rolled through easy traffic on Euclid Avenue, and all the rest of the way home as well. Time to grab a soda, and relax. First Sunday of the month. Cyclone Coaster ride, Long Beach, California. Today was the semi annual swap...

    Switchblade 1sp VS 3sp?

That is a nice looking cruiser. But gears are important on any pedal forward bike. I would imagine you could get a Shimano 8-speed internal in that frame without too much trouble. It would be worth spending a few bucks to do an upgrade. JWM

NOV 10 So Cal Rat Rod Ride

Ah yes, folks, the Rat Rods just keep on ridin'. I doubt we'll top the insanity of the Halloween party night ride, but we can make a good effort. Or not. How about if we just get together and enjoy another afternoon of cruisin' the bike path, enjoying the beach, and generally celebrating being...

Here is something you don't see everyday

I'll agree on the ugly part. There was a thread on the CABE about the Spacelander a while back. Most folks there agreed that the bike just doesn't have much appeal. Myself, I love anything from the early 1960's- that space age 'we're goin' to the moon' Jetsons style is my favorite. But the...

"road bike with Cruiser frame"what is the name for that ?

I vote "Roadster". That would apply to any cruiser framed bike that is specifically set up for serious riding rather than style. My Dyno fits that category: No frills at all- just a mile-eater, and a good one, too. JWM

So Cal Rat Rod Ride rats out Hallerween

Mary suggested doing a night cruise to coincide with the boat parades. Newport, Huntington Harbor, and (I think) Marina Del Rey all have them. It would be seriously chilly, but fun. John M

    Sturmey archer shifter questions

That is the identical shifter that I bought . It's the one that comes in the SXRK3 wide Sturmey hub kit. I was faced with the same problem. How to mount the thing on my Spoiler without drilling holes in the frame, or welding. That shift drum was made to be mounted on the OCC and XL Stingray...

So Cal Rat Rod Ride rats out Hallerween

Thank you all for coming out for the So Cal Rat Rod Ride Halloween cruise. What an incredible night we had! From raucous HB through the dark and scary part over the river bridge, and on through the strange quiet at Newport pier, and around Balboa. And the fast ride back with a warm tail wind...

So Cal Rat Rod Ride rats out Hallerween

Thanks Max! Yeah- just so we're clear. 7:30 pm. We'll meet up at the pier, just across PCH. There is a good parking structure right there off of Main at Olive or Walnut. Easy to see. The weather forecast looks good, so a cruise to Newport Pier sounds like the plan. Look forward to seeing...

Santa Monica Critical Mass Cruiser Ride 11/2/12

I'll second the bump. If you're in the LA Basin, you are within reach of this cruise. You should go. I can't go because I have to- scratch that- get to work that night. But this cruise is way worth the trip down the Santa Monica Freeway. 100% guarantee that you'll come home with a good story. If...

So Cal Rat Rod Ride rats out Hallerween

Re: So Cal Rat Rod Ride rats out *update* A second thought on next Saturday's night ride- I was talking it over with Mary, and we both thought it would be better to meet up on Main Street in Huntington Beach, rather than out in the middle of nowhere at the regular SCRRR parking lot. The point...

"Cardboard bicycle can change the world, says inventor"

Just what we need. One more disposable anything. Recyclable? What a load of crap. That means it'll last for a very short time, and then go to a landfill with all the other paper and cardboard waste. Steel, or aluminum can be melted down and re-used. And would you trust your body to a paper...
