So Cal Rat Rod Ride rats out Hallerween

OK, folks- Here we go.
Saturday, 10/27, will be party night for Halloween this year. Troy (schwinnless) suggested a night ride to celebrate, and since we've been kicking around a night ride for a while, we'll go for it.
Here's the tentative plan, open for suggestions and subject to change: We'll meet up at the regular top secret SCRRR parking lot at 7:30pm. The river trail will be too dark, so we can take the bike lane on Brookhurst down to the beach path. The party zones are Main Street, in HB, and the pier zone in Newport. We can cruise either, or both depending on how much, uh- spirit- (yeah, that's the word) everyone has.
Bring every light you've got, and stick it on your bike.
Masks, hats, face paint, costumes-
OH HECK YES!
Let's get crazy, burn the midnight oil, and do stuff we wouldn't want the kids to see.

A second thought on next Saturday's night ride-
I was talking it over with Mary, and we both thought it would be better to meet up on Main Street in Huntington Beach, rather than out in the middle of nowhere at the regular SCRRR parking lot. The point of the night is not so much to get out and ride, as to cruise the party zones, maybe stop for a drink, or a bite to eat. We can still take the bike path down to Newport if we feel like it, and we'd be able to do so without riding down any major streets. There is a good parking structure on Main street, even if it is kind of expensive. We can meet up right at the pier across Coast Highway.

There is a good parking structure right there off of Main at Olive or Walnut. Easy to see. The weather forecast looks good, so a cruise to Newport Pier sounds like the plan. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Thank you all for coming out for the So Cal Rat Rod Ride Halloween cruise. What an incredible night we had! From raucous HB through the dark and scary part over the river bridge, and on through the strange quiet at Newport pier, and around Balboa. And the fast ride back with a warm tail wind pushing us home. Shirt sleeve weather in the full moon. Just like flying. And Main Street, HB. ! :shock: This may well have been the all time greatest ride of all time.
