    Brakes Sticky

Cool, it sounds like its time to soak them for awhile. Thanks. What about the surface of the brake pads themselves, since they are metal do they need grease too??

    Front bearings and such..

are schwinn front hubs only compatible with schwinn axles, bearings, cones and such? I had a bent axle and replaced the whole set up from an older wheelset, and it doesnt seem like it fits properly. I've got it tightened down, and the cones keep loosening up after a ride. Any suggestions...

    Brakes Sticky

I want to add on to this thread since I have a similar question, just a different braking system. I just overhauled my coaster brake the other day, cleaned it out, degreased the bearings, and the regreased them with Phil Wood grease. When I took the hub apart originally there was some...

    should i change the bars??

I like flipped handlebars, but for me they need to be at the right angle. I flipped mine over and made them go with the line of the bike, sort of like road drops...but these are like extra low moustache bars...here's what I did if it gives you any ideas...

Pictures of my Schwinn Typhoon just added.

I got the bars at the same place I got my light. I was going to use the stock schwinn bars but this place called working bikes literally has bins and bins of parts. I completed my build thanks to these guys. But anyways...I was doing some searching and I found these. They were exactly what I...

Mike, I got it like that from a local bike store who sells old parts. It's a curved mount that encircles the steertube then the top knot locks down over it. I'm sure you can make something similar, or if you have a bike shop that has old parts, I'm sure you could dig around for one. Thanks...

Kelly, Thanks for the compliments! It's so cool to see other versions of these frames. I've NEVER heard of them until I came across mine. Your bike is very cool looking too, especially with the engine! Great stuff. Just like you said, it turned out to be a really good rider, mine is the...

My New Pics - I've been busy

Too bad you aren't near Chicago, or are you? Anyways, if I remember correctly, there is a green corvette for 100 bucks for sale at Working Bikes. I am going there today to get some parts and can check it out a little more for you.

So here are some updated pictures of my first completed project from this duet of beauties I picked up. I did a complete tear down of this bike, degreased and cleaned up everything then greased, lubed and put her back together. I took most of the rust off (some little spots are staying...

I think I am retarded, new question refer to 1st post please

Good tips n_d, thanks. I will just really try and work it all the way around multiple times and even be VERY careful inlfating it above the recommended PSI just while I'm doing this, not to ride it, and then let some air out, to get it back down to 45psi. The bike rides so amazing except for...

Past down from Family - 1937 Fleetwing & 1944 Goodrich

Awesome! I like keeping things original if you can do that. The two bikes I am building all have the original paint (except I'm restoring the wheels). I just cleaned them off and gave them a nice polish and they look great! The original patina is always the best.
