    yukky cheap lowrider made nicer

Happy new owner- Here it is all bolted up with new comfy sealed cell foam padding and temporary old seat cover taped on. Ride position much better wit seat 3- 4 inches higher and sissy bar tucks in tidily like early 60s polo seat

    yukky cheap lowrider made nicer

I usually do replace the stem with a 4 bolt bmx style one but this very old 10 speed one looked nice and gripped really well. anyhow, here's a pic of how I lifted the seat before I passed it on to it's new owner who shall make a nice white leather seat cover. it looked better with this new...

    mixte frame 10 speed chopping

my next version- to be a single speed with 26x1 tires and small track racing forks probably. most likely I will set up with BMX cruiser bars or similar slopey riser bars. I wanted a near vertical head tube for tricks and nippy handling, and also my seat right over the cranks. sort of a classic...

still needs seat cover.. maybe.. I kind of like the old foam and masking tape, it reminds me of my family's old motorbikes p.s. rides better with seat level and seatclamp backwards to bring seat forwards. improved handlebar angle but still steers a bit weird with raked fork (i hate raked forks)

Stingray Classic at Walmart for $88! Not the new style!

this cheap chopper/muscle bike at least doesn't have much ugly modern details as most I've seen like mtb stems, fake banana seats, fat frame tubes and lots of plastic add ons. I would probably get one for sure if it was available that cheap here! would be fun to mess around with, add/ subtract...

How to build a low-buck Fixie

I'd say from experience, that re- spacing and re- dishing is pretty much the only way you can go with getting your chainline right. often swapping BB is also involved. There are many Very Scary Pitfalls with spacing chainring bolts, if you don't know what you're doing. Also readers, Make sure...

    yukky cheap lowrider made nicer

Here it is mid way through build, just rattlecanned and stripped the yukky purple synthetic velour off, put on tweaked 10 speed forks to get some ground clearance. still much too low, need a big sissy bar. wish I could conveniently lift the rear to improve pedaling thrust angle note the...

    Retro Racer

currently with the straight fork following the line of the headset pivot angle, your steering will try and kick to one side like crazy as the wheel's point of contact with the ground tries to equalise with the pivot line. as a crude sort of rule, try and make the tire's point of contact about in...

    Fuji Feather muscle bike

This I bought off a guy on trademe.co.nz who bought it off a guy who used to have a shop selling stuff out of the Inorganic Rubbish. I'm thinking about making a springer fork of some kind- was going to use a wraparound swingarm and the shock out of an office chair, but they're too heavy- would...

AAAARGH if only we had frames like that lying around NZ

    Monark Minitracker

In New Zealand, or with myself anyhow, its usually the other way around- trying to fit smaller, fatter tires into old english designed frames that take the 1-3/8th tires! But this conversion seems to make sense to me. it looks more resolved.
