    springer fork for Huffy Cranbrook

I have a Huffy Cranbrook and want to put a springer fork on it. I want a chromed straight one like the one here: http://www.choppersus.com/store/product ... ed-1%22-CP What specs should I look for to ensure it will be a relatively easy swap? That one says it's for 1" threaded headsets. Would...

    Surly chain tensioner

Although it appears to have been made for a frame with rear-facing dropouts, if you google "surly chain tensioner" you can find info and pictures about it being installed with some success even on frames with forward facing dropouts such as those found on cruisers. But if you're just trying to...

    Need Leg Room

I have one like that on my Cranbrook. I'm 5'11" and I could actually raise it up another inch or two from the absolute lowest possible position and still be comfortable. My handlebar is a Wald 870 which has a 9.5" rise.

Need help with tire clearance issues

I used a couple of these serrated washers... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380035938589 ... and tightened the axle nuts better, to keep the rear wheel from being pulled forward under pedaling pressure. http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42495

want to add a chain tensioner to Cranbrook

Thanks for this tip, I found them on ebay. I now have one of those under each axle nut: Thanks, I removed all the star washers including those inside the frame when I installed the serrated washers. What is the correct amount of torque for these nuts? I have tightened them more than I had...

Show Off Your Finished Huffy Cranbrook's and Nel Lusso

I guess finished is a relative term. My wife bought me this Cranbrook a couple of months ago for my birthday. I have removed the fenders and chainguard. The handlebar is a Wald 870 9.5" rise bar from my LBS. The laidback seatpost is from ebay. The original Huffy seat squeaked badly. The...

want to add a chain tensioner to Cranbrook

I have an almost new Huffy Cranbrook. I'm having difficulty keeping the rear wheel axle from slipping forward in the dropouts. Sometimes when I'm trying to pull a wheelie, sometimes when I'm just pedaling hard. I'm ~193 lbs. After the axle has slipped a little then it's, understandably I guess...

    Maryland tinkerer

Hello everyone. I tinkered with my bicycles as a kid, now I have boys of my own getting into riding and I'm rediscovering the fun of tinkering with them. I have a fairly decent multispeed mountain I've had for several years and rode it off and on but got the bug for a bike like the one I had in...

    Banana seat & 26" bike

I recently put a 16" seat and 20" bar on my son's 20" bike and that was a good fit. I'm contemplating putting a similar setup on my 26" cruiser, but using both a longer (26") seat and a longer bar. With a bar only 20" long the seat would have to be so low that it would be as close to the rear...
