Coaster brake pedals backwards a tiny bit???

So last night I took it apart again, cleaned all the grease off of every single part. re-lubed (packed the bearings heavy, but just lightly coated the other surfaces) and reassembled. The problem is still there, but it doesn't bother me enough to investigate this any further. I thin you are...

Coaster brake pedals backwards a tiny bit???

I'm not sure if it did or not, I never noticed it before. It's one of those things you would probably never notice during normal riding, because once I come to a stop I put my foot on the road. I only noticed it after I took it apart and put it back together and was testing it upside down.. I...

Coaster brake pedals backwards a tiny bit???

Maybe my spring is a little weak, or maybe something got worn because I rode it for about a month and it wasn't lubed very well from the store. I procrastinated on lubing it myself because I knew I was going to change the cog and I wanted to do it all at the same time. Lesson learned, NEVER RIDE...

Coaster brake pedals backwards a tiny bit???

You guys are awesome for responding so quickly, where else in the world can you get immediate support at 1:00 in the morning...... I really appreciate that! I disassembled the entire hub again, cleaned each and every piece, re-greased, and reassembled. I followed the exploded diagram, and a...

Coaster brake pedals backwards a tiny bit???

Falcon CF-e10 is stamped on the arm. It's a pretty standard cheapo hub that pacific uses on a lot of their cheap cruisers. BTW I just checked my wife's bike and my daughters bike, and this is definitely not normal behavior. What the heck went wrong? Too much grease? Sheldon Brown says...

Coaster brake pedals backwards a tiny bit???

Hey guys, I just changed my rear cog from an 18 tooth to a 22 tooth to help with the hills... I took the opportunity to grease everything up real good inside the hub, and I am pretty positive I reassembled everything correctly, but I am getting a behavior that I'm not familiar with. When the...

My steering is too loose. How to tighten??

Can you please tell me where I can see more pictures of this bike? It looks like a road bike with a bent springer, I have to see more!

Mounting front fender with springer fork

OK, I see how that works now. That is a GREAT design... now they're using a thin L-bracket that just flexes when the springer moves, it's pretty lousy in my opinion. This gives me an idea thought, if I mount some type of t-shape bracket to the fork crown, I can use a clip like that. Thank you...

That bike looks great! I think a vintage saddle would compliment it nicely!

    Different styles of setback seatposts?

That's pretty cool that you made that seatpost. Did you add that cap on the top tube? It's a nice touch. Does anyone have any other input about seatposts with microadjust clamps?

New seat for my 1950 Schwinn!

I used that saddle on my cranbrook, it was a big improvement over the stock huffy seat, but I wish the padding was just a little big thicker. Still, for 20$ it's a nice looking seat, with beautiful springs and tabs on the bag to attach a tool roll. Very nice!

    Different styles of setback seatposts?

I recently purchased a layback seatpost like this: and the extra room it gave me in the cockpit felt great! Like riding a "pedal forward" style bike, it puts less strain on my knees. Unfortunately, the minimum height of this style seatpost is too tall for my preference, so I went back to the...

What kind of hub would suit me

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for the really helpful and insightful feedback! I think after reading the positive remarks about the automatic hubs, I'm going to try one. This should be a good opportunity for me to learn how to re-lace a wheel too. The only time I did that was when I...

Streched Stingray + 212cc + chopper styling = project purple haze

Don't apologize. This is awesome and inspiring work. I don't think he meant for that post to sound cynical, probably just busting your chops a little. I really like what you did and it's obvious that many others do as well. Please keep us updated on this build!

What kind of hub would suit me

I live in northeast ohio and the area has a lot of mild hills. I can pedal through these on my single speed cruiser, but it's quite hard some times. I would really like to have 2 or three gears to help with this, but i want to keep my coaster brake, and would prefer not to add a shifter (if...

Mounting front fender with springer fork

Hello, My schwinn drifter has a traditional schwinn style springer fork. Most bikes I am familiar with use two braces on the front fender so that it moves with the wheel as the spring compresses and expands. Mine came assembled with only one brace (at the bottom) and the top of the fender is...

    New member from Ohio

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! I wanted to update you guys on the situation with the wrong parts on my schwinn. I contacted pacific cycle, and to my amazement, they are shipping new parts to me. Let's hope that aren't the same ones, but rather, the parts that are show in the original...
