Anybody sniffing BO 19 in the air?

ORBO was my first and now I think I'm definitely IN for this next RRBBO. No Idea what to use. Backup plan*: I have a mid-80s lugged MTB frame and unicrown fork but that's kind of boring, but is a fine Traditional Class fallback. Main Plan*: My neighbor has a junker generic swoopy cruiser...

    Dynamo hub adjustment

Some of that rolling resistance is "false", or worse than it seems. Hard to describe but the magnets in the hub make it feel notchy as heck in the hand, and the video you posted shows how that looks. Once you get the weight of a tire+tube on there it will feel less so. And then again once on a...

    ORBO Voting Off Road

Just want to say thanks for the votes! I've been out of cell range for a week now (went to see the eclipse) and this was my first build off and it was a ton of fun. Too bad I didn't get my SWBO completed, but there's always next time!

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the final hours. I had a crank with a 30mm spindle (Hope). I had a "30mm" bottom bracket from Box components. HOWEVER it turns out that several companies which ostensibly use a "30mm" crank spindle actually have a 30mm on the drive side, and a 28mm...

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Thanks! It's real zippy and "quick" handling. Much shorter wheelbase and steeper HTA than my modern full-squish 29er. I think I may need gloves with more padding!

All good now, crisis averted. Not sure what happened but in my sleep-deprived state I panicked.

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Weirdly I'm only seeing SWBO builds in the Finished Builds thread. Zero ORBO. I don't have a filter clicked. Just me?

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Gaaaahh! I posted a new thread in "Finished Builds", at ~9:45 my time, with 15 minutes before deadline(roughly a half hour ago from this posts tome). Four pics uploaded. Where did it go??? When I go to look at the Finished Builds forum there's a small message "You have insufficient permission...

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

'97 GT Zaskar, Cannondale fork, older Paul hubs, Rhynolite rims. Magic gear. Only new parts not from my bin ended up being headset, seatpost collar, bottom bracket, crank spindle, and tires. I had more blue stuff but it was just too much, it took away from the frame/fork that look so good...

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Awww heck yeah. Had some hiccups but got it totally rideable mostly as envisioned. Now to make a coffee, get a glamour shot, and post in the contest entry thread.

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Stem didnt't show. Tracking says left Utah, returned to Utah, left Utah again. That delay bumped delivery from today to Monday. Plan B: sand/shine a random black stem I have on hand. Front tire fits! Thought it might rub. Not sure on the black bars, might go silver. Onward!

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

I know you're supposed to build and update over the course of time, but things got away from me. So here I am at the 11th hour, all parts finally arrived*, ready for final assembly. *actually still missing a stem, which should arrive today. I have an uglier one I could use. but would much...

What's better than the Avalanche? A made-in-usa Zaskar! Project officially back on track.

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Alright, previous frame officially shelved for the future, something with paint. Scored this Avalanche for $40! Should work wonderfully. I've been saving other parts but didn't think they warranted a thread update. Avalanche head tube is 160mm. The steerer tube on the fork I have (basically...

    SWB0 Ramble Tamble

Life has intervened but I'm still aiming to complete this for my first build-off. Scavenged a 2-speed kickback wheelset from the local classifieds...which helpfully came attached to a full frame/fork(in the background)so I guess I already have a basis for whatever the next build-off is...

    SWB0 Boone-Doggle

Oooh, I'll be curious what you think of the cues stuff.

    ORBO Vitamin 'C'lunk🍊

Yeah, the slacked out head tube looks really good, especially with the 650b front wheel. I'm not sold on the frame bag, that bike has so many cool tubes and junctions and negative space between the frame tubes that it's a shame to obscure them.

    ORBO Tail Gunner

The fairing is super cool, as a kid I would have been so stoked to have something like that. In my experience a rear fender on the bike, or at least a wide rectangle of plastic attached to the down tube of the tailgunner are a good idea to keep the passenger from eating too much gravel.

    ORBO Shiny Silver Single Speed

Slooooow. Kinda stalled deciding if I am really going to try and remove the bondo, or instead shine up what I can and think up a cool paint job for the rest. I'm not much of a painter, but it's just the area around the seat cluster and the head tube, so maybe I can come up with something cool...
