It’s been a few years since I’ve entered a build off, decided “why not?”, so here’s my entry.
I’ve been wanting to build a bike more for longer cardio rides vs fitness maintenance and cruising around downtown Savannah. Decided it was time to add a middleweight to my stable (everything else is a ‘ballooner’ of bigger).
Codename ‘Humpster’ came from a back and forth conversation with @kingfish254, basically it’s from the hump of a camel and Speedster....great story, huh?
Picked up this June 1973 Schwinn Speedster camelback frame at a ‘antique shop’ in Powder Springs GA a few years ago for $17.50 I think.
I’ve always liked the lines of these frames and I think it will fit the bill.
Only issue is, I need to get the seatstays reattached
Got ‘most’ of the parts on my stash, so I have no excuse not to get this one knocked out fairly quick
Cheers!

Wheels are going to be ‘matching’ set of 26x1.5” Weinmann 519s, 32h front, 36h rear. Rear hub will be a SRAM Automatix 2 speed coaster brake model. The tires are what really inspired this whole build. These Continental Ride Tours came on the 1968ish Columbia Rambler Deluxe I picked up a few months ago. Great quality tire that should have plenty of wear life to them.

Crank will be this 1956 JC Higgins mated to a sweet sealed cartridge bearing BB setup. A set of all black ‘Schwinn bow tie’ style pedals. Chainring will either be the Schwinn cloverleaf (chrome is shot, so painted), then I’d need to source/fabricate a chainguard OR the Tuf-Neck chainring with the bash guard. Would need to source a spider for it. Leaning towards the Tuf-Neck

Is there a Dr in the house? Yes, yes there is!!

Looking forward to watching this baby come to life. I like the cloverleaf chain ring, just cuz I haven't seen many, and it's cooler than a mint julep on a sticky Savanah afternoon!

Gonna be a cool build brother!. Go back and edit your first couple of posts and change the photos to FULL IMAGE.

Can’t believe we are in a build off together again and can’t believe you don’t specifically remember buying that frame off me at the “antique shop”!
