Went for a ride and in this pic you can see that the chainring hole actually lined up with one of the lower frame holes.

First, I want to thank everyone for the Mothra vs Butterfly votes and other handlebar suggestions. I did contemplate my options and even though they didn't win the popular opinion, I have decided to roll on with the Mothra bars.

The big ones seem to fit the 'kingfish style' better.

I can tell you want to use the Mothra bars so do it. It doesn't matter how many people try to stop me from doing something, I still have to do my own thing. Do it, do it, do it. Carl.

They are fun and just feel good for the build in my opinion. They're more "kingfishy" as one person put it.

Put the seat together before paint to make sure it passed the butt and nether regions test and I am glad to report that no tender tissue was pinched during my 2 hour ride. :D

It was hot and humid, but still a fun ride putting the bike through it's paces again. All of my decisions points are starting to solidify on this build now that the seat planned out and the bars decided.

Here are some pics from the ride.

Awesome photo, the last one, the filter makes it look like it was taken in the fifties.
I think we all agree with You on the handlebars even though some of us disliked them at first. If You did something You didn't quite like just because You conformed to the mainstream taste it would have taken some of the fun factor out and You would have never been able to fully enjoy the bike.
After seeing these pics I think that in the end the bars fit the bike real well, another unique detail on another unique build.

ooooh love the last pic,so retro...
It is a excellent frame...

It's fun playing with the filters sometimes.

When I ride around town, the forks and the bars get about the same attention as the frame does.

They still asking if it's homemade or store bought?

I get that with most of my rides. The reactions are always fun when you tell someone it's homemade.

Yeah, the bars are cool for sure, but . . . in following the angles of the frame, and the "holeshot" theme, wouldn't something like these these look pretty darn cool?

 They probably would, but I'm using the Mothras.:21::crazy2:

Love the new bars, BUT I keep thinking that frame needs more rake, like Sugar Bear Rake...

The forks definitely have a Sugar Bear vibe with the long rockers and they would lend themselves well to a raked out frame. However, I would be crazy to modify this frame and I like the current stance. The trail and handling are very good. I can even make pretty sharp u-turns on it. One thing I like about the stance is the bottom chainstays , BB, and BB Spear are parallel with the ground.

Broke down the saddle and started some of the base painting and color choices for it today (no pics).
Also picked out some parts that may end up on it.

Maybe this Mr Horsepower headbadge painted up

Got an idea on this Hot Wheels Revvin Rev grip shift, but not as a grip.
