Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/26 TANK PLATE

This might be the direction I take with the tank plate...

Looks like a nice ,clean, comfy cruiser! :D I like the tank plate idea and the rubber around it

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/26 TANK PLATE

Great idea with the "widshield" tubing.
I like the holy version of the tank the best.

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/26 TANK PLATE

the one with the holes is incredible!

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/26 TANK PLATE

Not much progress since Sunday.

Need to get a cheap set of hole saws for my tank.

Did manage to get my rear fender painted in the same textured paint as the Dana transmission.

I think I'll end up painting the tank panel the same color.

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

Steve, someone on here had some tank plates that had louvers cut in them and it looked really good. I think you could fake that look with some vertical cuts with radiused leading corners.

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

Had to come look at what grip your running. Sucks we can't find matches. Bike looks sweet. What about using the fabric electrical tape to route wires instead of zips?

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

Did you ever install the fender?

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

I did install the fender, but still haven't bought the set of hole saws.

I'm starting to rethink the drivetrain on this bike. I'll be honest...I'm not all that crazy about this 3 speed.

It looks cool and it's a novel addition to the bike, but it just feels strange.

How so? Resistance? Slipping?

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

Yeah, sort of this feeling that you're not moving as fast as you should be for the amount of force you're putting into it.

This one also has a tendency of locking up on you when pedaling. The grip shifter is kind of touchy so if your hand moves too much when ridding it's easy to accidentally throw it in between gears and the cranks lock right up.

I guess it could be an adjustment issue, but I've played with it some and it doesn't seem to help much.

I think I'm too used to the Nexus hubs.

Its no Nexus, that's a fact, Its just an odd piece of history that makes people scratch they're heads.

These statements pretty much sum up why we don't see these on bikes today.

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

Yeah...as I try to ride this bike around for any length of time, it's clear to me why they are not made anymore.

Re: ★★ DANA-GLIDE ★★ - 5/28 FENDER PAINTED

So, take it off and throw on a regular crank... maybe this will be the decision that keeps you from finishing this year.
