Well, here goes nothing...

I haven't even ridden a bike since I've had my driver's license, but like I've seen it said on here before, "It's cheaper than cars!" And let me tell ya, I like cheap. I'm on the ol' college budget right now. I'm tired of paying $4.25+ for gas, so its time to get down to the nitty-gritty... I'm no stranger to elbow grease, but working on bikes is still pretty new to me.

I'm rebuilding this old JC Higgins from the rubbers up. Bought it from a guy a couple towns over for pretty cheap. Plan on getting into every nook and cranny, scraping off all of the varnished on grease, grime, and rust.

...Well maybe I'll leave a little rust.

I like that blue. Has a vintage vibe to it. But ofcourse, we wanna see your own take on it.
Cool start.
Good luck and have fun building.

I got some spokes in the mail today, so I'm taking on the daunting task of lacing and truing these bad boys up. I've been doing quite a bit of homework on the subject, but I hear its pretty challenging. Everyone that I've told tells me to take it in to a bike shop.

-Ahh... New spoke smell...-

-Okay, got em both laced up. Now for the fun part...-

-Where did I put that spoke wrench?-

-My truing stand. (A couple old gift cards and the front forks from the Schwinn)

-Don't forget the rubber bands and masking tape.-

-Slowly getting there, but I'm thinking this might be a two day process.-

NICE STAND! I build wheels at work and let me tell you the first couple of times was so frustrating. It isnt realy that hard once you do it a few times. Just think off all the money that will be saved!
