I'm liking the Marvin the Martian look but the hex nuts look too much like, well um, hex nuts.

It would be cool if you could come up with some less recognizable spacers like small gears or even the nylon spacers like on the outside. Maybe some knurled nuts or T-nuts for wood. You get the idea. Look through your junk drawer for anything cylindrical like ink pens etc. Fun project!

Yes, I agree. It was the easiest thing to test since I already had the nut and washer bags open. This part is definitely fun. Reminds me of coming up with this part in BOTEN

You will get there with the Bat-tank. It's not there yet, but you will get there! πŸ‘

Don't know if this will stick, but I tried this little impeller doohickey something or nother that I had.

A reminder that I STILL need to build @CruJones his trophy for winning BO16 last year. I have everything I need and a plan. Just need to find the time. I'm a slacker!

After work and before dinner, I started brainstorming on brackets for the exhaust pipes. As I was doing that, I started thinking about something for the "oil can" space between the seattube and tire. As I was digging through a bunch of stuff I started playing with the loud push button bell in a ladies Columbia tank I have. As I was looking at the tank seeing how I could remove the bell, I realized that the tank might fit the space. Unusual idea, but what the heck.

Here is a crazy idea mockup. It acutally fits the seattube very well. But does it fit the build?

Taped the exhaust pipes onto place as well and took a lot of pics to evaluate the Columbia Bell Tank Oil Tank.
The super loud bell works fine here too.
What do you think? Is the tank silly or cool? or both? :D

OK, your gears are really churning now bud!
I kinda like the idea/look of a β€˜camshaft’ with the nuts and washers, but I also get TRM’s suggestion of using some small toothed sprockets. I bet there’s some sort of β€˜rebuild kit’ at Home Depot to fix a washer or dryer or space modulator that could supply the parts.
And wow! Never would have thought to place that tank there, I think it works!

So, before I posted the Columbia tank oil tank pics last night, I had sent them to @Dr. Tankenstein to ask if it was a stupid or cool idea. As we were chatting back and forth, he asks "This might sound completely stupid, but, what if you switched the tank and the missile?". At first I was shocked, and didn't think it would fit anyways, but then it intriqued me enough to go downstairs and quickly give it a rough test. It fits very well with just a gap in the front behind the headtube. It definitely mimics the skirt fins. So as crazy as it seems, I'll do better mockups in the daylight today. I still don't know if I could bring myself to swap it with the baseball bat tank, but my brain won't just dismiss it either.

Here are the nightime mockups. Curse you Doctor Tankenstein! Curse you!!! :D :D :D

The tank physical fits the frame bars very well. It would only take some slight trimming of the underside, but wouldn't effect the profile at all.
Aesthetically, It mimics and flows with the skirt fins beautifully in my opinion.
What do y'all think?

I know you put a lot of work into the bat tank but this one does flow better. Plus it's compound curves are pretty awesome and you'd have a hard time building it by hand. Two tone if you paint it to match....

Carl.

Trimmed up the tank and it fits great.
