I didn't find the two part shim that came with the Oriole, but I did find the 13/16 to 5/8 one piece shim that will work.
@Wildcat may recognize his old red toolbox that was full of small goodies, including a couple of lucky 7 solid posts.

Inserted the shim and then found a good lucky 7 post the fit this longspring saddle.

I love that chain guard, it looks great on there! I'd like to find one like that for a future build.

That one came from a 1950s Rollfast. But if I remember correctly it was aftermarket, possibly made by Macaulley. I've seen them on Monarks and Mantons as well.

Really like this combination of parts!! what was the original purpose of the bracket on the fork?

Looks like it was for a Twin-Jet Headlight Horn. I will be carefully drilling out the rivets to remove that bracket. It gets in the way of the flow of this build.

Turned the lucky 7 post around. I like this setup even better.

Slipped some dirty caramel Thompson grips I found along with a ladies Monark chainring. Gonna test a few chainguards, but I really do like the looks of the Zepellin guard.

Columbia guard is cool, but maybe a bit too bulky

Rollfast speedhole guard is definitely crusty and does give off a cool vibe for the build.

JetFlow guard is definitely a hot rod, but it's not quite hitting it for me.

This little dainty French guard is only worth a chuckle for this build.

For now I think it will be the Zep guard or possibly the crusty speedhole guard

Some of you may have noticed the little doodad attached to the pipe bars. Oddball gave me the mirror that he had on these bars as well. I don't believe I'll use it, but wanted to test it out. Once I had it mounted I could tell right away it was for British traffic. If you'll notice it's mounted on the right side of the bike, which would be the car side if you where barreling through the streets of London.

It's funny how one part, like a chain guard, can really affect the overall look of a bike. Without a chain guard, all of my 'eye attention' was focused on the fork and tank. Put on a guard and , "BAM"! my eyes shift down!

I really like this one....

I like it in the side photo, but in person it just felt super chunky

Going by that ad, my first bike was a used 24" Sonic Scout back in 1963. The other 24" Evans didn't have the big luggage rack. I remember the red and white stripes on the fenders.

I think the light bracket takes away from the look of the springs so it should go. The seat springs mimic the fork springs so I think it's a good choice.

I remember the red toolbox, but not the shim for the seat post. It's been over 10 years ago.
