Some nice craftsmanship on the guard in the garden. Looks good but maybe the back could be raised just a smidge?

Thanks. I'll take a better look at the flow and alignment of the guard.

Me too! I didn't even take it as a pic though. That was one that the Single Take feature pulled out of one of my walkaround videos. It caught my wyw right away though. I'll have to remember this angle. I like how the bike seems to be leaping forward.

I remember having fun with the big shadows these Mooneyes cast during my SaltHammer build.

That’s neat. Might be interesting to see how something similar would play out as a drive side money shot.

No work on the bike today, but after dinner I did go for a nice 2 hour ride with my friend Chris and his 46 Schwinn.
Stopped off at the Gelato place with the funhouse mirrors.

Glad to see the forum back up. Just to be clear, I haven't posted for two days, so it wasn't me overloading the servers with photo uploads. 🤣🤣🤣

I've been busy on the bike today. First I retested the rat fink head but with the flying flames that came with it. I think I may stick with this once I create a base for it.

I found two sets of Thompson red ball end grips and decided to test one on FOOLIGAN

Curious to see how you tie in the flame. As the bike sits, I prefer the Fink head 'sans flame'. However, I also know that a vision not yet realized, is a vision that can only be fully appreciated by the visionary. 😁

Love love love this with the Rat Fink head .... AND FLAMES! Maybe fade or tame the flames a bit depending on the RaTification of other parts, i.e. fork etc. Looking good!!

Heading out today dinner, but I post this of the main thing I did today. Spent some time with wd40 and 0000 steel wool pulling some red color out of the frame.

I don't necessarily have a complete vision yet. I just think the fink head looks cool in that spot. :D We'll see how it shakes out.

Yeah, as this progresses, I'll modify as necessary to flow with the whole build.

I like it with Rat Fink! Would you paint the tank to complement it? The red grips go well. I think you could use either grips.

I don't see myself painting the tank to look compliment the fink. I just see the fink head as an accessory.
I agree that either grips could work. After pulling more red out of the frame with the steel wool and wd40, I am leaning towards the red grips.

Here are a couple of before pics of the overall frame paint. As I had said before, I only did a very simple scrub of the frame before starting the build.

Started with the downtube and seattube. Very pleased with the results.

Removed the tank, shifter, chainguard, and rear wheel. Got some more red to pop out and cleaned the rusty bits.

Put the tank back on and I love how it pulls out the new red spots on the frame.

The lighter red Thompsons really look super bright in the photos, so I switched to the duller Thompsons . In the first Pic the brighter one is on the left. I switched them out for the duller one on the right

By this time, I was worn out from the heat and it was time for dinner. Rolled FOOLIGAN out into the lane for sunlight to show the recovered red in the frame It was a very good day!
