So simple............

I’m trying to figure out what it’s like to ride a bicycle that has no trail, and so the front wheel doesn’t caster.

Then I realized that the Sting-gray that I put together is like that. It has massive negative trail with the 20” front.

And it is wobbly In the low speed tank slapper shopping cart speed wobble sense. No fun at all.

After much internet sleuthing for months I finally found some faster rolling tires for 27.5+ sized ladies.....

1. Nice smooth center rib for fast rolling
2. Puncture protection
3. Tan wall ideally
4. Didn't cost $75+ each

And bonus they're reflective

No doubt much of the time spent was due to gender specific tires being so uncommon :giggle:

Not even going to touch the "plus sized ladies" joke. Too obvo

Was going to meet @kingfish254 today (and possibly @Dr. Tankenstein ) but the weather ruined that plan. But I did score a lead on a "beach cruiser" that was supposed to be extremely low miles and in desperate need of a sale because they were moving out of state. So I called the guy and in the process of talking it through to find out what he had he asked me what I was going to do with it when I told him I just fixed old bikes and give them new life he said well my brother has the exact same model and his has even less time on it. So I headed off to look at it today and picked up this for $25

Sure it's just a big box store bike but for $25 with almost brand new tires and only mild surface rust that came right off with the old aluminum foil trick I think it's a pretty good score. Plus his brother said I could come back tomorrow and grab the other one for free. And that one is supposed to be in even better condition but I didn't have a chance to look at it because he didn't have a key to his brother's storage facility

One of these just may become the new Anita Brewski

I’m just not that proud.

Can we get a chorus of Fat bottom girls?

That’s the fattest tire I can get on that skinny wheel.

Cool scores. @Dr. Tankenstein came over to borrow some parts and we brainstormed on builds in the courtyard a good while. It actually ended up not raining at all. Weather channel doesn't know anything :D .
Your chainring looks like it is a solid chromed one. Cool parts and donor bikes you got there.

Right place, right time. Traveling for work and this popped on CL about 4 miles from my hotel. For the price of a couple of scratch off tickets it was loaded up

Guy said it was a 19" frame so I was stoked but it's only a 18". Still decent though. In remarkable shape for a 98'. Shimano everything. Mismatched wheelset but that's ok I have a set of Alex wheels at home that will work nicely. Envisioning a 1x or SS gravel resto mod thing

Strange 1.125 threaded fork and threaded stem action. We'll see how that winds up affecting my parts selections

Nice frame. The fork and head set looks similar to the 1.125 one originally fitted to my Taiwanese made Schwinn Heavy duty. When I pulled it out to service the head set it was light compared other similar forks I’ve handled so I believe it is cromoly. I eventually swapped it for a 1” landing gear using shimming cups and a 30mm headset.

Definitely a chromoly fork. It's listed as 1.125 in the specs so we'll see what's what when I tear into it

That’s a very nice little Mongoose. Tires look familiar.

When I got that 90 old woman’s 60 year old girl’s Wayfairer bike, the tires looked like that as well. She must’ve let her grandkids ride the bicycle, and they skidded right through the cords. The tires were totally rotten too, like she put it away 30 years ago and never rode it again.
