Starting off with a Old vintage Carrera Saturn BMX.
Found by the bin as is. NO wheels.

There is rust, a ding, scratches, mild pitting, and something like varnish/paint all over the frame. This was a bin find.
One of the rear drops is bent, and seat post.
Idea is just restore, cheap as possible, so that the kids can ride on the property in summer.
I do have BMX wheel set, But I think I might purchase a new set.

It has these brakes with parts of the Gyro 2 system. The kids are not trick riders, so maybe just a basic brake system, less cables.

While I was taking photos, I decided to do a bit of basic spit n polish with WD-40 and wire brush, to see how much work is needed.
Without stripping parts off, I spent 2hrs.

Dang, for just a "basic spit n shine," you took that bin bike and already turned it into a BLING bike! Off to a good start! I'm sure the kids will love it!

Great that you are in the buildoff Funk! Happy that it is the ORBO, I can't use more competition

Start looks promising!
This is just a excuse, to get the 20" bikes up n running. Now that thr are 4 kids, to build for, and clean up parts n frames...
I guess I should enter the skinny also.:wink1::grin:

Now the hard work getting the real rust out...

Not familiar with those dual pivot brakes ( never tried a set), but love this frame. A fair amountof rust at some of the seams.

Those stem brake plates can be challenging, but work pretty decent once dialed in.

Great start. Can't wait to see more. ๐Ÿ‘
