Have you considered an internally geared hub? Keep the chain line straight and have more gearing range.
I have, just they are hard to find second-hand over here and I have no room in the budget for new, it may be an option later on, but will run single for the moment.Have you considered an internally geared hub? Keep the chain line straight and have more gearing range.
Just trying to imagine the front derailleur size I would need...do the 120 with the 70 as your inner ring, get the best of both and it could look incredible!! as a single the 120 rocks!!

I will post up a start video when the new 20t freewheel is on, it is not too bad at the moment, but it is a bit high.So tell us how hard is it to get started. I was waiting to see you start from a stop in your video.
Oh yeah, it flies! Equivalent gearing to the 120-20 it will end up with would be a 73-16, 83-18 or 92-20 front-rear combination on a 26" bike. My old 10 speed racer that I clocked 60kph (37.28mph) on when I was in highschool had a 52-13 top gear on 27" tires that equals 108 gear", this bike will be 120 gear"...Rollin' on man. Looks like you can get up to a good clip even with those little tires. I like it.
Carl.
Exactly right Drac! When they give good service it keeps you coming back.
