Both the boys bikes in the ad are shown with no chain guard. Is that how they came?

Made the ride down to JAX this morning and picked up my Elgin Moto Balloon
Front rim doesn't match the original rear, but that's okay. Still a cool score.

Good eye, I didn't catch that in the ad. I think you are correct and it's the model in the lower left of the ad and not the Oriole.
One difference I notice is while my serial indicates 1936, I have the V headbadge and not the slanted Elgin headbadge shown in the ad.

I believe they changed to the V badge mid 36. I have the same bike, with the V badge. Don't know the serial offhand, but that was about the end of the line for the motobike frames. -Adam
