1938 Elgin? Barn Find

I just picked up this Elgin bike with a 1960's or 70's Bike Bug motor attached to it. The old guy thought it was a 1938. I'm having a hard time finding a picture of one with the same head badge, chain guard, and tank. Anyone have any clues to what I picked up?

Chainguard looks kinda Shelby but it's hard to pin down. So many restos missing chainguards.

It is a 1941 Elgin chain guard is an aftermarket not correct for the bike. Cool find

Thanks guys! It does seem to be a 1941 after all, with the aftermarket chain guard.
I would like to get the fork truss rods and correct chain guard, but I'm assuming thats going to be a bit difficult.

Hey I just found one similar but mine doesn't have the tank. Does yours have the grease zerks on the head tube and crank housing too?

No mine doesn't have those grease zerks. Also the rear tire area looks different. Cool looking bike though.
