Got a chance to get one...Anyone know value? I have searched...no info that I need.Owner sent photos which look just like the 1946 DX model in ads I have found on Ebay.
She says she got it as a gift new years ago, never rode it,and the box says $1,000.
Any info helps as I don't want to miss it,or get screwed...
Thanks

It's red and white with the front fender light, truss rods on the fork, and looks like the 1946 comic ads on Ebay.

I don't think schwinn reproduced the DX. They did license a couple of different companies to reproduce parts like the DX tank. Maple Island was one of the companies that made reproduction parts.

Very close CCR...is that a real one? think the one I'm going to see has a fender built into the front fender though, not separate. The forks and paint look the same.

I think Schwinn has been making a "DX" cruiser for a few years, but it's a modern bike. They never did a faithful repop of the '46 DX to my knowledge. After I got my '46 DX I did a lot of web searches for that term and never ran across anything like you are describing. It might just be a "restoration" with some modern parts? The "DX" bikes produced recently were never near $1000. I'd be careful.

http://www.nostalgiamerchants.com/road.html This is what I got...
OK...went there today...NOT a Schwinn! I told the lady it does not say Schwinn anywhere on it...I guess every bike is a Schwinn to some...
Anyway,I got it for $150...who knows what they sell for now?
It has flats and dust, never ridden, and she is going to call when she finds the paperwork.
