1950's Colson Headset Size?

I thought all old us made balloon tire frames used 1" steer and headsets.....but when I went to install a 1" threadless, it looks like I need an 1 1/8". Is that possible? or are there a miriad of different sizes that I should be aware of?

maybe there should be a headset size sticky this comes up almost as often as schwinn tire sizes..... :wink:

your " 1" headset " is probably a mtb/road unit.

most likely you need either a schwinn/bmx cup size or the even larger (but still considered 1") wald headset.

Yes, sticky would be nice, but no, there isn't a "myriad" of headset sizes, but there's DEFINITELY a few. Try the BMX headset.

I've called a few places and they have nothing that will fit in this frame. The inside diameter of the head tube is 1.3" or 33mm. Where can I purchase such a headset, and can I get one that is threadless?
