Not sure how this is going to turn out but I wanted to give it a try.

Here is the frame I am starting with:

Here is my first mock up after some initial cuts. I still need to cut out the center bar on the frame.

Got a little more progress done on the Cycle Truck. I decided to scrap the top tube I cut off a spare mountain bike and went and picked up 6ft of tubing from Metal Super Markets http://www.metalfortworth.com/ in Ft Worth. They will sell you as much or as little as you want.

I cut a 2ft piece off and decided to work from there. The piece I cut off the scap bike was only 21" long so this gave me an extra 3" to work with.

So here is where I am at now:

Diggin it! The Monark top tube has a better straight section than the Columbia. It looks like its supposed to be there. Looking forward to more!

Looks nice!
When you were first laying out the parts, I thought that the curved middle tube, if extended, would end at the intersection of the down tube and the head tube. See pic.

I though about that but I want to be able to stick a nice finished wooden insert/sign in there. I am probably going to put a smaller bar in at the bottom right behind the head tube:

Probably a little bigger than that but you get the idea.

I also just ordered this neck:

I think no matter where you put that middle bar you will second guess your placement.
I looked at a bunch of possibilities and finally decided on one that was a little high.
Anything you add in to the sign board part kinda gets in the way of the design. Yours
looks good as is and I wouldn't put any other tubes in it. They are really fun to ride
for some reason. I love mine.

if you gonna put a wood sing in there , you could use "plates" for the triangles , if you put them in 4 corners , it would allow you to screw thin wood planks on both sides , without having to see the triangles or use clamps to hold the sign ... just a thought

Nice mod by the way

Good suggestions. I have not figured out how I will mount the panel but had planed to use some sort of C-clips to go around the frame bars. We'll see.

I still have to figure out how I am going to build the basket/crate mount. The only point of reference I have or pics on the internet. it would be nice if I could see a bike up close.

I want to build this as authentic looking as I can. I am going to use a 24" x 3 black rim and tire combo for the back and a nice fat 20" x 2.125 on a black rim for the front. I have got a rear fender figured out but need a front fender.

Right now I am thinking of painting a steel blue color similar to this:

While looking for a wooden crate at the flea market this weekend I came along this well put together aluminum box about the same size of a crate I was searching for. Paid the guy $20 for it.

That chest is PERFECT! Dang dude you can't beat that price either! Looking forward to seeing it mounted.

Figured out how I am going to make my extra long stem tube. I got a hold of another spare fork and cut the stem tube off of that one. Cut a piece from a spare handle bar that fits in the tube snugly. Measured it up and marked it so I can tack it with the welder and test fit it.

All together ready to be tacked and test fitted.

Got the Nirve fat-... rear tire to fit. Had to bend the seat stays and the chain stays out a bit to get the tire to fit in there.
