1952 Schwinn wasp, hornet ??

Picked up this today. Serial #C123xx 1952 but not Shure what model. Frame is black under the blue spray bomb with white darts. no kick stand. funky stem. and incorrect parts, chain ring, rear wheel, bolts in springer. Going to hit it with some easy off and see what I can find

With that chain guard, is probably a Hornet. Is the serial number on the BB or dropout?

Its on the dropout..

That number, starting with a C, shows as a 52, 53, or 57 on the serial charts.

Either they goofed and reused numbers or the official numbers are wrong. I think they used the numbers over again, but still, that's a 50's Schwinn with possibly good paint under the blue.

Black and red were typical Wasp colors. I believe 52 was the last year for serials on the BB. And they did repeat numbers a few times in the 50s. If it had the original crank, some were tear stamped. You can browse through Schwinn brochures on angelfire/tr findley, and see what models were available in black in 53 and 57. -Adam
