1955 Schwinn DeLuxe Racer

Have been working on this for a few weeks. Spent 4.5 hours cleaning and detailing the rear hub and wheel only to drop it and snap the shift rod off inside the hub :x

It's coming along, slower than I would have liked. Stainless fenders, all original parts including the rear reflector. Will post some new outdoor shots in "the other bikes" when it's done. Thanks to julesjunk for letting me rescue this. I'm in love with it.

great project bike. i got a schwinn world frame and forkset that i will someday get around to building up, a 1960 i think. lookin good so far.

I dont think the rims are original schwinn, theres an awful lot of clearance under the fenders.

I think that is just the backlighting and the camera angle. I assure you, after all of the quality :wink: time I have spent with them, they are stamped S-6 rims with a Schwinn scripted front hub.

The indoor photos don't do it much justice, it gets dark around here way to early now!

I've never seen the deluxe version before and would really like to find one for myself as I've always felt that these bikes really ride out great. As far as dropping the wheel goes,a few weeks ago I had just finished relacing a 26'' wheel and while detailing it dropped it only to have it land on a concrete step denting it pretty good.
