I really like the smooth ride of the CWC Shockmaster fork so when this bike came up for sale at $40 I bought it. It was purchased from the retired original owners who are moving to another state. Two parts on this bike grabbed my attention, the fork and the Shelby chainwheel. AMF bought the Roadmaster line from the Cleveland Welding Company (CWC) in 1950 and the Shelby Cycle Company in 1953. The AMF Shockmaster fork isn't as robust as the earlier CWC forks but is still a pretty good riding fork. My intent was to strip the bike for parts but the condition is so nice I almost feel bad about doing that, almost being the key here. The serial number is Jxxxxx which makes it 1959 according to a chart found at the Cabe. Rear hub is a Komet Super which I have no experience with but I guess I will soon enough. It appears the rack had a light which is missing. The chromed fenders are peaked and have embossed features on the tips that are hand painted. The 26 x 1.75 tires are in very good condition, being pliable and no cracking at all. The seat post is a wedge bolt type.
Enough of my blather, here are some photos.
